Warfare Lesson on Oversleeping

Hello again, 444 Prophecy News.

I’ve read some recent posts where folks have shared spiritual warfare strategies against the enemy, and I felt inspired to share one of my own…

…a BIG one which the Lord has had to drill into my head, over and over (and one that I still struggle with to this day).

Oversleeping. And napping.

And, even worse than these, in my opinion, falling back asleep after a dream warfare victory.

Allow me to be a Berean, for a moment, as I line this up with Scripture (KJV).

Proverbs 24:30-34

(30)I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; (31)And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

(32)Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. (33)Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: (34)So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

As for that last part on v.33, a little sleep and slumber, God opened my understanding on it more earlier this year. Specifically, I would use to take regular afternoon naps; usually around a half hour to an hour. But on this particular day, I was having some disturbance in my spirit, and had felt convicted about me taking this planned rest.

So I asked about it in my heart.

And the answer I received was. “It’s a sin.”

And Proverbs 24 was the chapter that I was eventually directed to.

And furthermore, going back through my dream journals, I started to much better see how occurrences of delay and loss of breakthrough often occurred around those very times that I decided to lay down and snooze!

Hosea 4:6 & Isaiah 5:13, brethren.

And please, test all I say and take it to the Lord in prayer (I John 4:1). Let Him teach and confirm things for you (Luke 24:45).

Now, if I may, to touch on dream warfare.

This one…would take a lot more ground to cover, I believe (as you’re dealing with, basically, “interpretation linguistics”), since learning about dream symbolism and patterns simply takes time and progressing experience, as led by the Holy Spirit.

(And if you do dream a lot, I would highly recommend keeping a regular journal so that you can go back and observe details.

I will offer, however, Genesis 40:8, Daniel 1:17, and II Chronicles 26:5 as references to dream and vision interpretation being Biblically legit. We wrestle not against flesh and blood; and the book of Daniel and Zechariah 3 also discuss visions and dreams involving Satan and the enemy.

Again, please seek the Holy Spirit on all things. Because I will also say that we can experience victory over the enemy in our dreams – but, this victory can be immediately snatched away from us, if we succumb to our flesh and slumber.

So, in closing, too much slumber can be one of those “under the radar” snares which can hurt you. It has certainly left me with a battle scar, or two!

Nonetheless, God is always good and graceful.

I pray this can be a help 🙏🏻
