WoW – Words of Wisdom – LOVE

Thus says the Word of God,
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

What does that exactly mean to someone who’s never known what love is? Someone who’s spent their life hearing the world’s greatest hits, ‘You’ll never amount to anything, You’re good for nothing, I wish you’d never been born, and the list goes on and on…’

I have been a professing Christian from my preteens and a devoted Christ follower over the last dozen or so years, but I didn’t get it. I understood that God gave His life to provide us with the gift of everlasting life, but how did love truly apply? So…I cried out to God. “Lord, help me understand what love is. Help me experience the emotion called love. I’ve always been numb to this emotion.” His instruction was simply, “Malachi”.

“I have loved you,” says the Lord. Malachi 1:2a. Okay, so…I still didn’t understand. I began listening to a Malachi teaching by Chuck Missler and thought if I understood the background of the book I’d better understand. I was about half listening until he said these very profound words. “Love is a commitment, not an emotion.”

That was a whoa – replay that again moment. A commitment. “The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers. That explains so much. “For God so loved was so committed to the world that He gave His only begotten Son”. “If you love are committed to Me, keep My commandments.”

God is committed to keeping His oath to His chosen people. The enemy has so perverted the meaning of love that mankind defines it as an emotion. This is a lie that has deceived the multitude. The sacred commitment of marriage has been made a mockery and there’s no family commitment. Just look at the divorce rate, even among Christians. Stop living in the darkness of deception. The Word of God says everyone who wants to be friends with the world by practicing evil – hates the light because the light exposes sin. A friend of the world is an enemy of God.

“If you are committed to Me, keep My commandments. And I pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—“.

Jesus Christ lived an obedient life in the flesh to demonstrate His commitment to His father. Eternal life is tomorrow’s reward for a life of committed obedience today. Start demonstrating your commitment to Jesus Christ by living an obedient life today. You may be in the world, but Jesus Christ has given you the truth to set you free.

My prayer is that you’ve seen the truth about love from these Words of Wisdom. Now, go be a disciple and share this light of truth with others.

Scripture References

John 3:16 -20 – NKJV

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

Malachi 1:2 – NKJV

“I have loved you,” says the Lord. “Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’ Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” Says the Lord. “Yet Jacob I have loved;

Deuteronomy 7:7-8 – NKJV

7 The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

John 14:15-16 – NKJV

Matthew 28:19-20 – NKJV

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
