will things ever be as they were before?

All things are wearisome, more than one can describe; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear content with hearing.

Nations of the world await the loosening of restrictions; the return of freedom, reconnecting with family and friends, getting back to normal, getting back their lives. But will things ever be as they were before for we the sheeple? Will America and other nations of the world so impacted by the panic be able to recover from the mayhem and madness thrust upon them? Did we take too lightly our freedoms; willingly closing churches, schools, ruining businesses, destroying lives? Did we take for granted all that God had graciously given us? Had our rebellion, our sin become so egregious to our Maker that He finally said ‘enough’? Has murder of the innocent, the flaunting of homosexuality, drag queen library times, gender reassignment, the lies, the divisive rhetoric, the hatred….all without repentance, or regret finally taken their toll?

Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: Consider carefully your ways. You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You earn wages to put into a bag pierced through. What is crooked cannot be straightened, and what is lacking cannot be counted.

Has the Maker of heaven and earth, Creator of all given us yet one more wakeup call? Has a clarion call been sent forth; a call to each and everyone; examine yourselves, look deep within, acknowledge hidden sin. Has He yet one more time given us a warning that time is slipping away, that hell awaits the unregenerate, unrepentant soul. Even though few will listen, has Abba Father yet one more time reached out in love to the famous and the frail, the prince and the pauper, the weary and the warrior, offering hope to the hopeless; “I go to prepare a place for you and if I go, I will return….”  Will we at last listen to The Word of the LORD, or will we choose to remain in our self-serving pompous prison, binge eating, spending what little money we have on alcohol, cigarettes and candy bars, hoarding toilet paper and Twinkies; or will we finally admit our sin to God, who already knows? Seek His forgiveness, His fellowship, His freedom from anxiety, depression and fear and allow Him to repair the broken shards of our lives?

All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall when the breath of the LORD blows on them; indeed the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God & stand forever.
