This Time the Bear Will Strike Us (the US)

This morning, when I drove down the driveway, I passed by one of my smaller outlying chicken coops and saw quite a sight. To my shock and amazement, the entire coop had rotated 90-degrees. Half of the tough wire panel on one of the sides had been ripped off and pushed down by a predator, so it could enter the coop and feast on the two chickens inside. In my four years on this rural property, I’ve dealt with raccoons, coyotes, and bears. Only a bear is strong enough to have done this. But in four years, a bear has never touched a single one of my animals.

Last night, before I went to sleep, I prayed for God’s protection over my animals as I often do. I’d heard a scratching sound earlier and had gone outside in the garden to inspect it only to find no predator. During the night as I slept, no strange sounds awoke me. When a predator tries to get into a chicken coop, the hens cluck and cry out in alarm, and this commotion usually wakes me up. Even the rabbits in their hutches will start thumping like crazy. So, when I saw the carnage this morning, I was completely surprised.

I spoke to God and asked Him, “Why now? Why a sudden bear strike on my property after several years of Your protection?” He answered quickly, “Let the people of America know that soon the Russian Bear will strike the US. It will be unexpected and reorient the nation. It will not be completely devastating—the damage will be limited—but it will serve as a severe warning. Without my protection, America is not as strong, safe, and secure as it believes.”

Note: the US includes not just the nation’s states, commonwealths, and territories, but also its bases, embassies, and corporations.

Scripture:

Psalm 121:1-8 NIV

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Romans 1:18-32 NIV

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
