Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

Recently in my mind I’ve been hearing the lyrics to “Scarborough Fair”, a classic song sung by the folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel of the late 1960’s. Sometimes the Holy Spirit will use song lyrics embedded in my memory to send me a message. When I asked for the interpretation, I received the knowledge that all these food ‘seasonings’ are really medicine, and that every household should have them in stock for the times ahead when medicine will be very difficult to find.
Parsley contains myricetin and apigenin, both which inhibit virus reproduction and fight cancer. What is known as “desert parsley” (Lomatium dissectium), was successfully used by Native Americans in the Southwestern states to fight the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918.
The Holy Spirit has also made it clear to me that a particular form of sage—red sage root or Radix Salvia Miltiorrhiza, known as “Danshen” in traditional Chinese medicine—will be of great benefit particularly in the next pandemic when the immune system’s cytokine storm will cause people to bleed out.
Rosemary, in addition to sage, contains rosmarinic acid, which inhibits virus reproduction.
Thyme’s thymol stops the COX-2 enzyme that causes inflammation, and thyme’s carvacrol lowers inflammatory cytokines as well.
Thanks be to God our Father for the treasures of the plants with which He has gifted us.
Exodus 15:26 NIV:
“He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.’”
