In a dream vision, I saw a man approach a group of people, of which I was one.

The man, who looked middle aged but very fit, resembled a military officer, but I saw no uniform. He boldly asked us, “Who wants to commit to Jesus Christ?”

I raised my right hand, and so did a few others.

Then the man directed us to come forward and continue to raise our right hands. We would be swearing our loyalty to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

As I raised my right hand and swore my fealty, I sensed that I and the others with me were being sworn into an army, Christ’s army. As I swore my loyalty, my right arm, and the right arms of the others, started to glow a brilliant white!

But soon my right arm’s brightness began to dim. Confused, I asked the man, “Why it is growing dim? What happened to the light?”

“You lost your focus on Jesus,” he explained. “Refocus on Jesus now.”

So, I thought of Jesus again, and my right arm quickly restored its white and shining glow.

When I awoke from the dream vision, I recognized the man in the dream as an angel of God. His purpose was not only to swear us in to Christ’s army, but to train us to stay focused on Jesus in the role we would play in the battle ahead.

Focusing on Jesus increases God’s light that shines through us to others. The military uniform we wear appears as a bright white light that extends beyond our perimeter of own bodies.

Scripture:

Psalm 37:5-6 (NIV)

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.

Psalm 44:3 (NIV)

It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them.

Daniel 2:22 (NIV)

He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Acts 13:47 (NIV)

For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
“I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”
