Shabbat Service – 21 Tevet, 5779

Shemot = Names

Torah Portion – Exodus 4:1-9

1Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you.’” 2The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.” 3And he said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it. 4But the LORD said to Moses, “Put out your hand and catch it by the tail”—so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand—5“that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” 6Again, the LORD said to him, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” And he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow. 7Then God said, “Put your hand back inside your cloak.” So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh. 8“If they will not believe you,” God said, “or listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign. 9If they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.”

Haftarah – Isaiah 46:9-10

9Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”

Brit Chadashah – Matthew 8:18

18Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.”

1. Moses & the 3 Miraculous signs

2. The Life of Moses & the rapture shadow

3. Isaiah 17 & the connection to Genesis 14

God Tells us the END from the beginning! God can not lie!

A. Moses and the 3 Miraculous signs

  1. The Rod to a serpent back to a rod – Exodus 4:1-5

-Represents Gods power over the enemy!

2. Leprosy – Exodus 4:6-8

-Represents Gods power to heal

3. Water turned to blood – Exodus 4:9

  • Represents Gods power over creation and Gods power over the nations.
  • The nations are compared to the waters of the sea that will rush but will be rebuked in the end times – Psalm 29 – 7 thunders

The Prophet Like Moses is Jesus

“The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen” Deuteronomy 18:15

Jesus Demonstrates the same signs that Moses did in a greater fashion to prove to the people that He is the Son of God!

In Matthew 8 after the sermon on the mount in Matthew chapters 5-7 ( which was a repeat of Moses being on the Mount) Jesus comes down and performs the same 3 signs that Moses did in a greater fashion!

  1. Cleanses the leper/power to heal =Matthew 8:1-4 (Moses is even mentioned in the sign)

*Gentiles are also included by faith when the centurion’s servant is healed in Matthew 8:5-15

2. The rod to serpent back to a rod/Power over the enemy = the casting out of demons on 2 different occasions in Matthew 8:16-17; 28-34

3. Water turned to blood/Power over creation and water = Matthew 8:23-27

Matthew 8 is a rapture Chapter!

“Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.” Matthew 8:18

Jesus is going to give a command to depart to the other side when the rapture comes as He descends from heaven! But many people will have excuses and won’t be ready to depart to the other side when the Body of Christ crosses the sea of glass and goes into the Fathers house on the cloudy day! (Matthew 8:19-22)

23And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.24For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” Luke 9:23-24

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14

Those who are ready go on the ark with Jesus and He calms the storm (tribulation) for those who are with Him.

His voice is over the waters = Psalm 29

He then deals with the antichrist and false prophet when He comes back because it will be time to torment the devils! (Matthew 8:28-34)

B. The Life of Moses, Jesus, and the Rapture

The rapture is also seen in many ways in the life of Moses. The name of Moses means to “draw out”. So his whole life is connected to Gods deliverance by being drawn out of the water

1. Moses was born in Egypt and his life preserved miraculously when he was drawn out of the water. = Exodus 1:14; Exodus 2:10

Yeshua was virgin born and his life preserved miraculously in Egypt  = Hosea 11:1

2. Moses revealed himself to his brethren but was rejected = Exodus 2:11-15

Yeshua is the Cornerstone rejected at first by His brethren = Psalm 118:22

3. Moses fled to Midian and the first place he ends up as at a well! Which is where people draw water out of! There Moses met 7 (gentile) sisters that he fought for and saved from cruel people = Exodus 2:15-17

Yeshua went to the Gentiles and saved us from the devil! = Women at the Well John 4:13-14…..Also the good shepherd and John 10:14-16

4. The priest of Midian, Jethro, gave his oldest daughter to Moses for a wife and they dwelt securely free from the rule of Pharaoh = Exodus 2:18-21

Yeshua marred a gentile bride that the Father has given Him. And He will protect us from the time of trouble of the Great Tribulation. = John 6:44

5. When the time was right Moses went back to help his brethren and free them from bondage to the cruel lord. = Exodus 4:18-19

Yeshua will come at the battle of Armageddon and reveal Himself to His brethren again and free those who believe from the bondage of the Antichrist!

C. Isaiah 17 and Genesis 14

  1. Damascus Destroyed = Verse 1-3
  2. Jacobs trouble = Verse 4
  3. Harvest comes when Damascus destroyed = Verse 5-6
  4. “Left Behind” = verse 6
  5. The Day of the LORD begins = Verse 7-11
  6. God rebukes the waters = Verses 12-13
  7. It’s the day of Sudden destruction = Verse 14

12Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!13The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.” Isaiah 17:12

  1. Rebuke of God is The Voice of God that is over the waters = 7 thunders Psalm 29
  2. The wind that chases away the chaff = 4 winds released Revelation 7:1. Jeremiah 49:36, Gog and Magog
  3. The whirlwind = Psalm 77:18, Isaiah 66:15
  • Isaiah 17:12-13, Luke 21:25, Jeremiah 51:42, Jeremiah 51:55,
  • The rapture is connected to a great rescue from the raging waters that come like a flood
  • Psalm 18:16-19, Psalm 32:6-7, Psalm 124

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

The signs in the heavens are happening now and we are looking up! The next thing to happen is the waters roaring! The waters roaring are the nations! The end comes like a flood according to Daniel 9:26:

“Then after the sixty-two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.”

God shakes the heavens (powers of heaven kicked down to earth) at the same time that the sea and the waves roar (Gog and Magog) His voice will also shake the earth because His voice is over the waters (7 thunders found in Psalm 29)

The first thunder:

“3The voice of the LORD is over the waters;

the God of glory thunders;

the LORD is heard over many waters.” Psalm 29:3

“The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” Joel 3:16

ELAM IS THE CULPRIT that starts the day of the LORD! = Ezekiel 38:5, Isaiah 21:2, 22:1-6, Jeremiah 51:11, Isaiah 13:17

THE END TOLD AT THE BEGINNING = GENESIS 14

  1. The first time Damascus is mentioned is in Genesis 14:15
  2. The King of Elam comes to make war in Israel (Canaan) = Genesis 14:1,4
  3. Abram defeats the 4 kings near Damascus at night = Genesis 14:15-16
  4. Melechizedek meets Abram and blesses him with bread and wine! = Genesis 14:18-20
