A Wounded Dove

On August 3, 2026, I was in my garden and saw a dove, exhausted from the heat, huddled up and very weak. I watched it for a while but did not think much of it at the time.

Later that night, as I stepped outside to the front of my house, the dove came out from among the trees as if it were asking for help. I prepared a basket for it and gave it water and fruit. The dove looked extremely tired and appeared to be wounded. Two hours later, it died.

The entire experience deeply impacted me. It grieved my heart, and I could not understand why it stayed on my mind so strongly. As I was praying that night, these Scriptures came to my heart:

“For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest everyone deals falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of My people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.”

Jeremiah 6:13–14

“Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of My people not been restored?”

Jeremiah 8:22

“My dove, my perfect one, is the only one, the favorite of her mother, cherished by the one who bore her. The young women saw her and called her blessed; the queens and the concubines praised her.”

Song of Solomon 6:9

The Lord’s dove is seriously wounded. It is a mortal wound. There is an urgent call to pray fervently in these last days for the healing and restoration of the Church.

Doctrines and “ministries” driven by greed and falsehood have inflicted a deep and deadly wound upon the Church of Christ.

It is both my responsibility and yours to rise up in prayer for the wounded Body of Christ and ask that the Balm of Gilead would flow once again. Your prayers and mine can move the heart of God to act, to heal, and to remove everything that has caused this grievous wound among His people.
