My people, who suffers more? As some of you spend day after day, even year after year, in pain or in sorrow, are you tempted to despair? The enemy will even try to suggest to you that your God has placed a heavier cross on your shoulders than he bore himself. Did not your Lord only suffer torments for one day, yet you suffer for years? Has the enemy whispered such things in your ears? Have you begun to entertain such words?
While I may not have suffered in the flesh for a long season, do you honestly believe my becoming sin for you was a small thing? To have my Father’s face turn away from me at the cross, can you even begin to comprehend such a thing?
And if that is not enough to move you, do you think that my suffering has ended, once I rose from the dead? Can you begin to imagine my pain, and my Father’s pain, over every precious soul that I have created and have had such great plans for, reject me and plunge headlong into hell? Is not my and my Father’s heart broken anew each time another soul chooses to reject my ways for all eternity?
My people, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Even the most heinous sinner I take no satisfaction in having to mete out righteous justice.
Oh, if man only knew the plans I had for each and every one of these precious souls! Plans of such blessings and joy, plans for their good and never their harm.
Yet most choose darkness. Most choose to go their own way. Whatever light I gave them, they took pains to reject and snuff out. So many men love the darkness rather than the light. So many perish, even as I speak.
My children, it is not that I am unaware of your trials. It is not that I don’t care about your pain. But I do want to give you some perspective. I do want to remind you that all this is temporary. Your trials shall not last forever. While in the midst of your suffering, it may seem never ending, but it is not. Never ending is the punishment of those who reject me. Never ending is for those who choose not to walk the narrow road.
I speak these things to you at this time so you take heart. While some of you have become weary with pain, I urge you to take your eyes off self and turn them toward me. Try to imagine my sorrow. Sorrow that has lasted since the time of Adam. Sorrow that is renewed countless times each and every day as yet another soul drops off into eternity without me. In these thoughts you may find the proper perspective toward your temporary afflictions. Be glad and rejoice that your names are written in the Lamb’s book of life, and that your suffering is not forever.
For yet a little season I shall ask you to endure a little longer. As the culmination of history approaches, the birth pangs of the renewed kingdom shall become more painful. I tell you these things not to frighten you, but so that you may prepare. Settle it in your heart that whatever may come your way, your eyes are firmly fixed on eternity. Let not the setbacks and the disappointments of the day derail your faith. Stay strong, and you shall eventually see the end of your road.
For those who manage to persevere until the end, I can guarantee you that you will never regret your decision. I invite all to endure hardship for yet a little while longer, and you shall reap a harvest of eternal glory. Encourage and exhort one another with words such as these, and help one another run the race. Choose to look out for one another as I give opportunity, and I will always give you strength and discernment to assist those in need.
Keep watching and waiting, and learn to never take your eyes off of me. Meditate on these truths, and before you know it, you shall be standing before my throne, with an abundant entrance into my kingdom waiting for you.
