Where Are Your Scars?

March 10, 2021 6:42 PM
Every Knee Shall Bow
scar- the result from the process of wound repair in the skin, as well as in other organs and tissues of the body. Thus, scarring is a natural part of the healing process.

2 Corinthians 4:5-7 KJV

5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

The Word:

On February 22, 2021 I was at a place where many people were exercising. On that specific day there were 3 groups led by fitness instructors. They looked like fitness clubs to me. As I walked, I noticed the large amount of equipment they had and the passion they were putting on getting their physiques fit. It was also evident the effort put in showing it all off. Let’s say a spirit of competition is part of that affair, right? After walking for a while and spending time with the Lord He said to my spirit: “Do you know why people show their physical scars? Because those bring glory to themselves. My people don’t want to show their scars because they bring glory to Me and not themselves. Where are their scars? Tell them to show their scars.” (End of message).

Wow. I kept very quiet thinking about it and of course checking if I had failed on that and how. All words are first for the one who gets them. After some days He gave me a deeper understanding of what He meant, so here’s a teaching I’d like to share about it.

However, in case you don’t go and read the full teaching (I really encourage you to, though), I’d like to briefly share some important points:

  • By scars the Lord meant the wounds He healed when He saved us. Also, further wounds of sin, bondage, and pain He has healed in us throughout our walk with Him. The ones that are now scars because they don’t hurt anymore. The ones that show a before and after person in you. Your testimony of transformation.
  • Do you want to evangelize? He has given you scars as a conversation starter! Giving an account of how “good or well” your are now and leaving out who you were is a great strategy for people to admire you, but the worst to bring people in need of salvation from Jesus to His feet. No wonder our enemy loves that strategy and is sadly encouraged even amongst Christian groups.
  • Do you not have scars? A testimony of transformation? A before and after version of you? Well, maybe you are in the process now and if that’s your case… it’s great! Stay there. He’s won that battle and under His care, you will be free indeed, changed forever, a new person.  If you are willing to share Him, He will tell you when the right time is to show your scars.
  • However, if you can’t identify your scars and can’t either place yourself in the process, you probably have heard of Jesus or know Him with your mind but need to experience Him in your life. Please, let Him access your wounds. Can’t see you are wounded and at risk of spiritual death? Ask Him to show you where healing and restoration need to happen.  Some of the many scars I can share with you are: the Lord changing me from being a liar (very clever one), freeing me from lust, envy, pride, and self-righteousness to mention a few. There are no saved people without scars to show. He wants… must save you for Him to be your Lord. Will you let Him? I pray you do.

Revelations 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

God bless.
