Summary at bottom
This is so good: how to hear God’s voice. Watch this.
Okay, this is me after I recorded this video. Just a heads-up: I get really emotional in this one because the Holy Spirit just bombs me for no reason. But you guys are going to learn how to hear the voice of God. So let’s go.
All right, it’s going to be so much easier if I just make a video on this instead of typing a whole thing out. I don’t care how charismatic this seems; we’re going to hear the voice of God in this video.
In the last video, I pretty much talked about how I’d rather pray to God and try to hear Him than ask AI all my questions. Here’s the thing: not everybody has been able to hear the voice of God, and even I struggle with it. I struggle with it a lot. If you’ve never struggled with it, I question you. Or I need to know your secrets.
First things first, we have to get these ground rules down. We have to understand the thing that is blocking you from receiving from God.
I’m just going to go off on a Holy Spirit whim right now.
You believe you aren’t good enough to hear the voice of God or to feel His presence. You feel like you don’t deserve to hear His voice because you feel like you haven’t done enough to earn that.
You have this idea of, like, “Okay, I have to read my Bible this amount of times today. I have to be praying every single night before bed, because if I don’t do those things, He’s slowly backing away from me.”
And you’re constantly playing this game of catch-up with yourself. It’s like, “Oh my gosh, I didn’t read the Bible today. Uh-oh. Okay. Is He here right now? Let’s check.”
That performative mindset is the exact thing that is preventing you and blocking you from receiving from God.
By the way, when I say God, I’m saying Jesus Christ.
Get rid of it. This performative mindset—get rid of it.
I’m not saying it’s bad to read your Bible. I’m saying the thought of you having to do something in order to receive from God is false.
God does not see your sin and your imperfections. Because you have the Holy Spirit abiding in you because of your faith in Christ, God only sees His perfect and sinless Son, Jesus Christ, within you.
We have to start acting like that now.
It’s terrifying. It is, because you feel like you have this weird, like, uh… What’s the word? Imposter syndrome.
Look at the story with Isaac, Jacob, and Esau. Jacob put on the garments of Esau so that he could get the blessing from his father, Isaac.
It’s us putting on the garments of Christ so that we can get the blessing from God the Father.
Cool.
We have all the ground rules down. If you’ve stuck around this long, let’s hear from God.
This is not us testing God. If that’s your heart posture, leave this video.
Your heart posture should be, “I love Jesus Christ so much that I need to hear from Him.”
Your heart posture should be gratitude and love—the idea that you did absolutely nothing to deserve what He’s given you.
Dude, I didn’t know I’d be crying in this video. Give me, like, two seconds.
Dude, He is wrecking me right now. I’ve got no clue what’s happening, bro.
Okay, I’m back.
Make sure your heart posture is there. That’s the point.
Now, everything that I’m about to be saying, I got all of this from a dude named Jamie Winship. Dude, I’m going to start bawling my eyes out again.
I got it from this dude named Jamie Winship. His YouTube is called Identity Exchange Online.
He is the GOAT. He is freaking awesome.
Okay. Step one: go get a notebook. Go get a pencil. Piece of paper, pencil, whatever, or just go into your Notes app.
If this isn’t evidence that it works, bro… Ugh, I don’t know what is.
Okay. I had to take another break there and just, like, uh…
Dude, He’s just awesome. He’s just awesome.
Okay. Now that you have your notebook and your pencil, or your paper, I want you to pray this exact prayer.
This exact prayer:
“Lord, mute the voice of the enemy and mute my own voice. I only want to be able to hear Your voice. I only want to be able to receive from You.”
Again: mute the voice of the enemy. Mute my own voice. I only want to be able to receive from You.
Now, lay out all of your fears—every single thing that you’re afraid of.
This could take two minutes. This could take five minutes. This could take ten minutes. However long it takes, tell Him everything.
Also, to all of the women out there: if your future husband does not weep like this, all the men out there, if your future wife does not weep like this, make sure that they are obsessed with Jesus Christ.
Okay, let’s just keep going, dude. I’m, like, getting so sidetracked right now.
After you’ve laid out all of your fears to Him, I want you to have your hands like this and say, “Christ, I give this all to You.”
Dude, what is this video? What is—oh.
Holy Spirit’s bombing me.
Dude, He’s bombing me right now. At least let me record this video and finish it.
Then you ask Him, “Father, who do You say that I am?”
I want you to write down every single thing that you hear.
Your brain’s going to go crazy with just a bunch of labels, but now that you’ve just cleared all of those blockages of fear out of the way, you are completely open to receiving from Him.
There are going to be some labels that you won’t even believe—things that you would never, ever say about yourself.
That’s God. That’s God.
Like, the first time that I ever did this, I think I heard “lion,” and there was “king.”
And the one on “king,” I was like, “Dude, that’s, like, borderline blasphemous. I’m not writing that down.”
But later on, I recognized that it’s like, “It’s not me. It’s Christ who’s in me.”
That’s exactly how God sees us. It’s how we get to heaven.
Okay, I need to go, like, off camera so I can clean myself up.
He’s real, dude.
He just wants to talk to you, but you don’t believe you’re good enough for that.
He’s just screaming at you. It’s like, “You are good enough. You’re good enough because I was good enough. I did all of that so that you could have it.”
All right. Repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I love you guys.
Summary
The video teaches a simple approach to hearing God’s voice, emphasizing that fear, shame, and a performance-based mindset can make people feel disconnected from God. The speaker explains that believers don’t need to earn God’s presence through perfect Bible reading or prayer routines; instead, they should approach Jesus with faith, gratitude, love, and confidence in what Christ has already done.
The suggested exercise is:
- Get a notebook, paper, or phone.
- Pray: “Lord, mute the voice of the enemy and mute my own voice. I only want to hear Your voice.”
- Write down and surrender your fears to Christ.
- Ask: “Father, who do You say that I am?”
- Write down the thoughts, identities, or words that come to mind without immediately judging them.
- Compare what you receive with Scripture and the character of Jesus.
The speaker says the goal is to stop believing you are unworthy of hearing from God and instead recognize your identity in Christ. The video ends with an emotional reminder that Jesus wants people to draw near to Him, repent, believe the Gospel, and trust in what He has done.
