For In Your Struggle Against Sin You Have Not Yet Had To Resist To The Point Of Being Killed

25 March 2022

Hello brothers and sisters in Christ. Let us draw strength from these Passover Scriptures as a reminder to always be faithful to the Lord.

Luke 22:31-34
“Simon, Simon! Satan has received permission to test all of you, to separate the good from the bad, as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff. But I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you turn back to Me, you must strengthen your brothers.” Peter answered, “Lord, I am ready to go to prison with You and to die with You!” “I tell you, Peter,” Jesus said, “the cock will not crow tonight until you have said three times that you do not know Me.”

It is hard to believe that someone so close to Jesus, who witnessed His Transfiguration, someone who willingly stepped out onto the water, someone who was with Jesus when He was arrested, would deny that he knew Jesus. Peter had the privilege to personally know Jesus, travelled around with Him, dined with Him, witnessed the miracles performed by Jesus, and even had the privilege of helping John in preparing the Passover Meal(The Last Supper) Luke 22:8-9 Jesus sent off Peter and John with these instructions: “Go and get the Passover meal ready for us to eat.” “Where do You want us to get it ready?” they asked Him.

Yet, after all this, Peter denied three times that he knew Jesus, just as Jesus said he would. We read in Luke 22 that after Jesus was arrested and brought to the house of the High Priest, that Peter followed at a distance. He then joined those who were sitting around a fire in the courtyard. The denial of Jesus started when a servant -girl saw him sitting at the fire and said, “This man too was with Jesus! ” verses 57-62 reads

But Peter denied it, “Woman, I don’t even know Him!” After a little while a man noticed Peter and said, “You are one of them too!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!” And about an hour later another man insisted strongly, “There isn’t any doubt that this man was with Jesus, because he is also a Galilean! ” But Peter answered, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about! At once, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed.

The Lord turned round and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered that the Lord had said to him, “Before the cock crows tonight, you will say three times that you do not know Me.” Peter went out and wept bitterly.

We know from the Scriptures that after Jesus ascended to heaven that Peter played an important role and did indeed strengthen the others as Jesus told him to do. Just before Pentecost, it was Peter who stood up and said that they must choose someone to replace Judas ACTS 1:21 “So then, someone must join us as a witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He must be one of the men who were in our group during the whole time that the Lord Jesus travelled about with us, beginning from the time John preached his message of baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us to heaven.”

We also know from Scripture that Peter and the other disciples went on to do great miracles.

There is no doubt today that those who will be turning back to the Lord in this time, will be like these disciples. They will not be slothful or soppy because they will know the times that we are in, as their eyes will be opened and they will be determined to wake up and strengthen the others which will start a movement worldwide, never before seen. They will be careful yet unafraid and unashamed to bring the rest of the sheep into the fold.

Reading from Hebrews 12:3 – 4
Think of what He went through, how He put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up. For in your struggle against sin you have not yet had to resist to the point of being killed.

Part 2

For In Your Struggle Against Sin You Have Not Yet Had To Resist To The Point Of Being Killed

25 March 2022

Hello brothers and sisters in Christ

As we read in the previous post from Luke 22:31-34, we can see that Jesus is addressing Peter and telling him that He prayed for him that his faith would not fail him . He is also telling Peter that when he turns back to Him that he must strengthen his brothers. Jesus already knew who would deny Him three times and who would betray Him for thirty pieces of silver.

But there is more to this in verse 31 because although Jesus was addressing Peter, it is obvious that it was not only Peter who would be tested. Jesus says in verse 31 “Simon, Simon! Satan has received permission to test all of you, to separate the good from the bad, as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff”

This is the reality that we ourselves are now facing, but the ultimate test will be when we are faced with the choice of either denying the Lord Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world who died on the cross so that all mankind will have salvation, or take the mark of the beast on your right hand or on your forehead. We will then see with our own eyes, if we are still here, how many people will deny Christ. But it will come with a price because it will boil down to not only denying Christ with your mouth, but having to prove your allegiance to the beast by having his mark either on your right hand or forehead. This will then enable people to continue living as they wish, or so they will be made to believe.

Do not take the mark. If you deny Christ then He will deny you and you will not spend eternity with Him. You will lose your salvation and spend eternity in hell.

Even today we are already subjected to unjust laws and regulations, which we will either abide by or lose some of our freedoms. People are going to court trying to find justice because of these laws but are losing their cases. It’s like they have no leg to stand on. As we can see, many people are now giving in to these laws and regulations just to be able to live a normal life.

There is no normal life anymore and can anyone who has given in to these laws and regulations truly say from their heart of hearts that their lives have returned to normal and that there’s joy in this present life, while they know that these regulations don’t look and feel right, but gave in to it anyway just to continue to live their lives the way they want to?

Many people say they pray and they believe in God. Then why is it so difficult to believe what is written in His Word, because God and His Word is the same. That is also written in His Word. The two cannot be separated. John 1:1 says Before the world was created, the Word already existed; He was with God and He was the same as God.

Jesus is the Word and unless we surrender our lives fully to Him, we will never know true peace and joy . We will always be looking elsewhere for it and not having the understanding when certain events or circumstances surround us that make it difficult to handle or bear.

The Lord will not test you beyond what you are able to bear. He always provides a way out and that way out is the strength that He gives you to endure. Some people just don’t believe that we will or should go through any kind of trial because they believe that there’s always another way, easy way out of everything we face in life. But Isaiah 30:20 says: The Lord will make you go through hard times, but He Himself will be there to teach you, and you will not have to search for Him anymore. If you wander off the road to the right or to the left, you will hear His voice behind you saying, “Here is the road. Follow it.”

Scripture reading taken from the Good News Bible

Hebrews 10:37-39
For as the Scripture says, “Just a little while longer, and He who is coming will come; He will not delay. My righteous people however, will believe and live; but if any of them turns back, I will not be pleased with him.” We are not people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith and are saved.
