The…Bomb Drill?

In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit placed me into a scene in which I was a completely different person, a married woman who lived with her husband in a high-rise apartment in a city. I assume the place was in the United States, as in the dream I did not notice anything that would lead me to think otherwise. After creating “un-meat” patties for dinner with her husband—I don’t know if this woman was a vegetarian or if there was simply a shortage of beef—she grew tired and lay down to rest for a nap before cooking dinner.

Then the scene changed to shortly after when her husband gently shook her awake. “You missed the bomb drill,” he said. He had just come up from a meeting down in the basement of the high-rise. “Why didn’t you wake me up?” the woman asked groggily. “You were fast asleep and I didn’t want to disturb you,” her husband said. “I’ll fill you in on the procedure and what we did over dinner.”

When I awoke from the dream, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to several aspects. The woman and her husband lived in a city that was having its residents prepare for the bombings of war. Cities were anticipated to become targets of the enemy, dangerous places to be. The couple was not eating meat patties, but improvising with grains, vegetables, and beans—possible evidence of food shortages and supply chain disruptions. Lastly, the woman slept through the bomb drill, and her husband allowed her to sleep through something that could have provided her with life-saving information. This behavior indicates how America, even on the verge of war on our own soil, is asleep, and the very people who should be vigilantly protecting us—the leaders or heads of our national households—are letting our citizens continue to sleep unawares.

Our true Husband Jesus Christ wishes to awaken His Bride and grace her with His life- and soul-saving protection and provision. She must not sleep but be vigilant and prepare, and like the sons of Issachar, she must understand the times and know what to do (1 Chronicles 12:32 NIV).

Scripture:

Proverbs 19:15 NIV

15 Laziness brings on deep sleep,
and the shiftless go hungry.

Proverbs 20:13 NIV

13 Do not love sleep or you will grow poor;
stay awake and you will have food to spare.

Proverbs 24:33-34 NIV

33 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.

Matthew 24:42-44 NIV

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Matthew 26:36-46 NIV

Gethsemane

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 NIV

The Day of the Lord

5 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Revelation 6:3-7 NIV

3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
