나는 들판같은 곳에 허름한 건물들이 여기저기 흩어져 있는 곳에 있었다.
그곳의 분위기는 마치 창살없는 감옥같이 느껴졌다. 그리고 그곳을 통치하는 괴물같은 것이 하나 있었는데, 그것은 흉칙스럽고 사람의 형체를 비슷했다. 그는 망대 같은 높은 위치에서 그곳 사람들에게 공포를 심어주며 그 곳에 있는 사람들을 괴롭히는 일을 하며 지낸다. 나는 그 괴물과의 일정한 거리에 서서 그 괴물과 그주변의 사람들을 관찰하는 관찰자로 거기에 있었다.
그런데 어디선가 밑바닥이 없는 둥근 불가마가 같은 것이 날라와서 그괴물을 강타했다.
그 괴물은 그 불가마와 하나가 되어 몇미터 뒤로 나가 떨어졌다.그곳에 있는 사람들은 그 광경을 보고 기쁨의 환호성을 질렀다. 잠시 후 또 다른 사건이 일어났다. 내 등 뒤쪽에서 핵폭탄이 터진 것이다. 그 순간 나는 이 지구의 세상이 끝났다고 느꼈다. 나는 서서 그 괴물을 바라보고 있었는데 그는 즉시 빛의 의해 눈이 멀어버린 것 같았고 곧이어 그의 몸도 핵폭탄의 열로 인하여 재가되어 흩어져 사라졌다.
나도 곧 그렇게 될것을 알고 약간 긴장된 마음으로 생을 포기한채 서서 기다렸다.
그런데 이상하게도 충분한 시간이 흘렀는데도 내몸에 아무런 변화도 일어나지 않았다. 나는 여전히 그대로 서 있었고 그 모든 상황을 관찰하고 있었다. 나는 그 상황을 이해할 수가 없었으며 몇분간 어리둥절한 상태로 서 있었는데, 어디선가 이런 외침이 들려왔다.
“마지막 대추수가 일어나기 전에는 세상이 끝나지 않는다”.
그후 꿈에서 깨어났다.
