The Sin of Esau

My son, do you know why I hated Esau? Did I carry a grudge against a specific soul? Was there something in his appearance, or personality, that gave me offence?
Of course not. It was what he represented. His actions displayed for all the world to see the thing in his heart that I despised. He accounted the blessings of God a trivial thing. What I had bestowed upon him in my grace he considered it of no value. One meal was worth more to him than an eternity of my favor. One moment of temporary need was of far greater import than holding onto the favor of God. The spirit of Esau is a spirit that considers the blessings of God as worthless.
So I ask you Canada, and yes, even you, in America and anywhere else where I have bestowed my sovereign blessings: ‘Is not the spirit of Esau alive and well in your land?’ Nations of the west, have I not poured forth peace and prosperity that so few nations have ever seen? Have you not experienced freedom and safety as so few ever have?
And you threw it all away. Cast it away from you without a second thought.
Oh Canada, how thoroughly you have despised your birthright! You, who was decked with so much wealth. You, who were given so much grace. You, who were kept safe by your neighbor in the faith to the south. How quickly you have thrown it all away! And for what? What did you receive in return? What was the reward for the loss of your freedom, the loss of your prosperity? Did you get a good price?
No, you did not. You gave away your inheritance because you were cowards! You could not stand to be criticized. That is all it took. When you had the chance to rise up and say to wickedness: ‘Thus far you shall go and no farther’, you did not do so. It was easier to give in. It was simpler to stay quiet. Why complicate your life, when life was so good? Why make a fuss, when the blessings still surrounded you? Was it not easier to look the other way? Why trouble yourself, when entertainments beckoned? Why spend time seeking me, when days of leisure and plenty yet abounded?
Now suddenly you are alarmed. Suddenly you begin to see. See that your nation is ruined. And not just your nation, but your churches as well. You look around you, and you begin to realize your inheritance is being taken away. Everywhere you look, freedom is being replaced by bondage. Liberty for slavery. Prosperity for penury. The rule of law for lawlessness.
Where has my country gone, you ask? Why has God abandoned us? Yet it is not I who have abandoned you, but you have abandoned me. While your nation was being dismantled, you paid no heed. While the wicked kept gaining power, you turned a blind eye, content to play church rather than to fast and pray. While the enemies of the cross grew bolder, you grew more fearful. But not only fearful, but indifferent. As if what was occurring was of no great import. As long as it had not yet touched you, then you paid no heed.
Oh Canada, what shall you do in this day? The day of your reckoning draws near. Your politics, your military, your media, your justice system, and your churches are simply a reflection of your apostasy away from me. The spirit of Esau is in your land. And your actions have brought your true condition into the light.
Oh you rebellious ones, why have you despised your birthright so? Why did the blessing of the Lord mean so little? You abandoned my teachings with such ease. The things of God you threw away as easily as some cheap trinket.
And now the judgment has come upon you. For those with ears to hear, you know that I have warned you. I rose up early, trying to get my people to turn. To turn back to me. Yet you would not. Therefore eat the fruit of your own ways!
While my ear is always open to those few who have truly wept over the state of your land, know that certain judgments are set. Now I am looking to see who is willing to accept my verdict, and embrace the punishment of your iniquities that have been decreed in heaven.
Only by embracing my will can you find the path through this present darkness. Those who try to fight my will with pointless chants and declarations of victory shall be swiftly swallowed up by what is to come. No more shall I tolerate my foolish lambs who make a mockery of the sure judgments of the Lord. The days of false prophecies and imaginary pronouncements of blessings in the midst of rebellion and ruin are over.
What I say to you, I say to all. Repent, and repent quickly. The days of woe that have been spoken of are right at the door. Those who have despised my blessings of freedom and peace shall despise me no longer. Those who played and danced, shall now groan and weep. But those who stood firm, and embraced my word of holiness, shall be given strength for the trials ahead. Indeed, those who honored me, while my name was being trampled underfoot, I shall honor before my Father in heaven.
Stay strong, and remain steadfast in the true faith. Now is not the time to let the woeful events of Babylon overwhelm you. Now is the time to turn your hearts and minds back toward my kingdom as never before. It is only there that you will find the peace and purpose to carry on unto the end.
