The Quiet Exodus from the Big Cities

In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit showed me a time in the near future when a quieter and small-scale exodus of families from the big cities would occur. Some real estate agencies in more rural areas had set up group tours of properties in smaller towns for people to view what was still available. Many of these places were not picture-perfect or ideal, but that did not matter anymore. What really mattered was if the properties had the essential utilities and enough space to house a larger number of people than usual. Every possible space—alcoves and even hallways—would be used by purchasers, some of them pastors and remnant Christians, to place a cot or bed.

Normally, a single-family home or a townhouse is owned by one person or a couple. Most purchases are transacted with a mortgage loan. But in this scenario that the Holy Spirit showed me, multiple families and friends were buying properties together, many of them raising cash and avoiding mortgages altogether. Any big city dweller who had common sense and some means was purchasing, or buying a share, in a small town or country place that would be less dangerous in times of pandemic and war. This way, they and their families would not be caught as homeless refugees vulnerable to the actions of others—whether the military, the police, or predatory criminals.

The Lord loves and protects His people and would not have them suffer. He makes ways of escape from sin and death. IF YOU FEEL STIRRED BY THE LORD TO FIND A PLACE IN A SMALLER TOWN AND IN THE COUNTRY AT THIS TIME, DO NOT DELAY. He will make a way for you and others like you. Ask for His guidance, and do not be surprised when He answers you directly in your inner ear or unmistakably through the mouths of others who He directs to speak to you just at the appropriate time.

Scripture:

Exodus 14:29-31 NIV

29 But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. 30 That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. 31 And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Psalm 68:19-20 NIV

19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
20 Our God is a God who saves;
from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Matthew 2:13-15 NIV

13 When [the Magi] had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

Acts 12:6-11 NIV

6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.”
