In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit took me to a time in the future in America when the elderly faced a much more difficult life. He took me to a place that looked like a dormitory with an eating area in the middle and bedrooms along the perimeter. I saw only elderly women there, and it was very crowded. At one point, the place could have been a nursing home, but now it had no nurses or medical care. The facility was essentially a dumping ground for elderly women without families to care for them. The strongest residents there were helping to run the place. One of the weaker residents had just died, and the average death rate of residents was one per day. There was a shortage of beds, so when a woman died, it freed up a bed for others.

This dream vision indicates the breakdown of the family, the economy, medical care, and government entitlement programs. A society’s health is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members, and America in this time was found wanting in this respect.

Scripture:

Exodus 20:12 (AMPC)

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Leviticus 19:32 (AMPC)

32 You shall rise up before the hoary head and honor the face of the old man and [reverently] fear your God. I am the Lord.

1 Timothy 5:2-4 (AMPC)

2 [Treat] older women like mothers [and] younger women like sisters, in all purity.

3 [Always] treat with great consideration and give aid to those who are truly widowed (solitary and without support).

4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, see to it that these are first made to understand that it is their religious duty [to defray their natural obligation to those] at home, and make return to their parents or grandparents [for all their care by contributing to their maintenance], for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
