[2] Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, - Ephesians 1: 2-3

This article is about the computation of the 70 Weeks Prophecy given to the prophet Daniel, with regard to the timing of the coming of the Messiah Lord Jesus Christ.

So far, the computations that I have seen have been inconclusive, and those attempting the computation have always concluded that something is amiss since the dates do not match with Biblical or historic data.

I believe the Lord has led me to a new piece of the puzzle that fills in the gap, so that the results now obtained match with the historical data and or Biblical accounts. This new nugget is the counting of Jubilees. When the Jubilees are considered and added in the computation of the 70 Weeks Prophecy, then the results are a perfect match with historic data and the information that is given to us in the Bible.

In this presentation, I endeavor to make this revelation as simple as possible for all to understand. Because out of this comes the finding that this Year 2020 is of great importance as we are going to see.

The timeline for the coming of the Messiah was given by the angel Gabriel to the prophet Daniel in the Book of Daniel Chapter 9, and the counting begins when the proclamation of a decree for the restoration and rebuilding of Jerusalem is pronounced. The particular scripture for the timeline is thus:

Daniel 9: 25

[25] “Know therefore and understand,

That from the going forth of the command

To restore and build Jerusalem

Until Messiah the Prince,

There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;

The street shall be built again, and the wall,

Even in troublesome times.

[1]        The Calculation of the 70 Weeks

There is a reason the Lord uses the term “Weeks” instead of Years. This is because the conversion into Years when you have Weeks, is not as straight forward as one may think. Many, in computing the 70-Weeks of Daniel, consider that a Week is simply 7 years. This is not entirely correct and thus the error.

And this is because of the Jubilees. After counting 49, the Lord tells us to add one more automatically to cause the Jubilee or Shavuot (Pentecost) to be realized:

Leviticus 23: 15 – 16

[15] ‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. [16] Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.

The Year of Jubilee

Leviticus 25: 8 – 12

[8] ‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. [9] Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. [10] And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. [11] That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine. [12] For it is the Jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat its produce from the field.

 Essentially what the Lord is telling us is that 1-Week is 7 Years, but 7-Weeks is not 49 but 50. Because of the automatic inclusion of the Jubilee or Shavuot (Pentecost). This is the nugget and the discovery that I believe the Lord has led me to, and it has allowed me to compute the Years differently and perhaps conclusively as we are going to see.

I have hereafter attached an excel sheet that follows this concept, and one can see from it that after 7 Weeks, 1 additional unit is added, so that 7 Weeks is 50 Years, and 14 Weeks is 100 Years, and 21 Weeks is 150 Years, and so forth.

62 Weeks can be seen to be 442 Years (and not 434 Years) and 69 Weeks as 492 Years (and not 483 Years. The simple calculation of 69 weeks as 483 Years has been the error that has led many to inconclusive dates. And this is the revelation that the Lord has led me to, which I wish to share with all.

[2]       The First Coming: The Year that Christ Died & Resurrected as AD 35

The first decree came from Artaxerxes in BC 458 when he decreed the restoration of Jerusalem at the time of Ezra the priest. This decree by Artaxerxes kick started the times of the Messiah for His first coming to die for the sins of mankind.

Daniel 9:26 tells us that after the 62 Weeks (that is after the 7 Weeks and then the 62 Weeks, thus implying 69 Weeks in total), the Messiah would be cut-off but not for Himself. Meaning that the Messiah would die for the sins of others.

According to the calculation of Weeks appended to this write-up, 69 Weeks yields 492 Years. If we add 492 Years to BC 458, and add 1 to correct the transition from BC 1 to AD 1 (because there is no Year 0), we get AD35 as the result.

This ties in well with the next verse, where we are told that He shall confirm a covenant with many for One Week (70 years) and in the middle of that Week, He would bring an end to sacrifice and offering, because He became the ultimate sacrifice such that the Father no longer could accept any other. And at the end of that Week i.e. AD 70, the desolators came and destroyed the City of Jerusalem and scattered her people.

Thus, the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 became an important marker that Christ actually died in the middle of that time period, which is in AD 35.

[3]        The Second Coming: AD 2027 as the Expected Year of the Return of Christ

I believe that Daniel 9:25 has multiple fulfilments so that although it applied to His first coming, it is also valid for His second coming. And this is how:

The Ottoman Empire had jurisdiction to the holy land (the trampling by the gentiles) for a long time. And in AD 1535, one of its kings, Suleiman “the magnificent” decreed the reconstruction of the city walls. This decree, I believe, once again Kick-started the return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His second coming in line with Daniel 9:25.

We know little about this decree, except that it was proclaimed in AD 1535.

If we add 492 years to AD 1535, we arrive at AD 2027 as the likely date that the Lord Jesus Christ will return to rule and reign over the entire earth.

[4]        AD 2020 as the Expected Year of the Rapture & Start of the Tribulation Period

If the second coming is likely in 2027, and considering that the final week of the Daniel 9 Prophecy is 7 Years, then the Rapture of the Church and the start of the Tribulation Period should be expected in this Year 2020.

SOME RELEVANT SCRIPTURES:

The Letter of Artaxerxes to Ezra

Ezra 7: 11 – 26

[11] This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave Ezra the priest, the scribe, expert in the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of His statutes to Israel:

[12] Artaxerxes, king of kings,

To Ezra the priest, a scribe of the Law of the God of heaven:

Perfect peace, and so forth.

[13] I issue a decree that all those of the people of Israel and the priests and Levites in my realm, who volunteer to go up to Jerusalem, may go with you.[14] And whereas you are being sent by the king and his seven counselors to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, with regard to the Law of your God which is in your hand;[15] and whereas you are to carry the silver and gold which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem;[16] and whereas all the silver and gold that you may find in all the province of Babylon, along with the freewill offering of the people and the priests, are to be freely offered for the house of their God in Jerusalem— [17] now therefore, be careful to buy with this money bulls, rams, and lambs, with their grain offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them on the altar of the house of your God in Jerusalem.

[18] And whatever seems good to you and your brethren to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do it according to the will of your God. [19] Also the articles that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver in full before the God of Jerusalem. [20] And whatever more may be needed for the house of your God, which you may have occasion to provide, pay for it from the king’s treasury.

[21] And I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, issue a decree to all the treasurers who are in the region beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the Law of the God of heaven, may require of you, let it be done diligently, [22] up to one hundred talents of silver, one hundred kors of wheat, one hundred baths of wine, one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribed limit. [23] Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it diligently be done for the house of the God of heaven. For why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

[24] Also we inform you that it shall not be lawful to impose tax, tribute, or custom on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, or servants of this house of God. [25] And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are in the region beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them. [26] Whoever will not observe the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be death, or banishment, or confiscation of goods, or imprisonment.

The Good News of Salvation

Isaiah 61: 1 – 4

[1] “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

[2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

[3] To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

[4] And they shall rebuild the old ruins,

They shall raise up the former desolations,

And they shall repair the ruined cities,

The desolations of many generations.

Thus, this Year 2020 appears to be very significant. I urge us all to prepare in repentance and be ready.

Be blessed. Shalom!

Your brother in Christ, William
