The Coming Day of Bitter Mourning for the Christians – Thanksgiving?
The Prophet Amos was sent to the Northern Tribes of Israel – Led by the Tribe of Ephraim [USA], Amos was given a vision of a “Basket of Ripened Fruit” [aka – 1st Fruits] – Then judgments come upon the “People of Israel” – the Christians in the modern era. Amos 8 was never fulfilled in times past!
The prophecy begins by Amos being shown a vision of a basket of ripened fruit. This fruit [Strong’s # 7019] appears to represent the 1st Fruits of the Harvest that have already been gathered up and put in a basket [Deut. 26:2] – as pointing to the removal of the 1st Fruit believers prior to the catastrophic events that follow in the subsequent verses [dead bodies thrown everywhere].
Secondly, verse 5 appears to describe a ‘holiday’ celebration over a ‘sabbath’ – weekend where there is a strong incentive for the merchants to begin selling their products just after this ‘holiday feast’ is over. This appears to be pointing to the traditional American Thanksgiving holiday gathering. The instant the ‘holiday’ feast is over – everyone rushes out to purchase ‘Black-Friday’ sales. Take note this is called “Black Friday”, where later in verse 9, there is a reference to ‘darkness’ suddenly occurring at ‘noon’ time. Will the LORD cause a surprise “darkness” on Black Friday – the day where everyone is desiring the material things of this world – rather than God?
Amos 8 1This is what the Lord God showed me: behold, a basket of [Awaken – Ripened] fruit [Strong’s7019]. 2 And he said, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A basket of [Awaken – Ripened] fruit.”
Strong’s # 7019: qayits – Definition: ‘to awake’, summer fruit/harvest, ripened fruit
Question: Why does Amos see a basket of harvested, ripened fruit that also means “to awake”? Answer: Because this group has ALREADY BEEN HARVESTED – those who are awake and ripe!
This Fruit in this basket are the “First Fruits” – see Deut: 26:1-2 – “First Fruit put in a basket”
Deut 26: 1“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance… 2 you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from your land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket…
Then the Lord said to me,
“The end has come upon my people Israel; [Luke warm Christians] I will never again pass by them.
3 The songs of the temple shall become wailings in that day,” declares the Lord God.
“So many dead bodies!” [Isaiah 5:25 – Those who call evil good and good evil]
“They are thrown everywhere! – Silence!” 4 Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5 saying, “When will the new moon [holiday] be over, [Thanksgiving?] that we may sell grain?
And the Sabbath, [Holiday weekend?]
that we may offer wheat for sale, [That we may begin the Black Friday sales] that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
6 that we may buy the poor for silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?”
7 The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: [Christians and Jews combined] “Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.
8 Shall not the land tremble on this account, [Earthquakes during Thanksgiving] and everyone mourn who dwells in it…
9 “And on that day,” declares the Lord God,
“I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight. [Black Friday]

10 I will turn your feasts into mourning [not part of the Lev 23 appointed feasts – Thanksgiving?] and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist and baldness on every head; [Baldness on the heads is called for deep mourning for children missing] I will make it like the mourning for an only son and the end of it like a bitter day.
See Isaiah 17 11 “yet the harvest [children] will flee away in a day of grief and incurable pain.”
11 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. [Famine not of food, but God’s Word – early in events]
12 They shall wander from sea to sea, [USA is referenced from sea to shining sea] and from north to east;
they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it.
13 “In that day the lovely virgins and the young men
shall faint for thirst for the word of God [finally – the luke-warm will want to know God’s Word] 14 [NLT] And those who swear by the shameful idols of Samaria—[Washington D.C – statues] who take oaths in the name of the god of Dan [Trump is the from the tribe of Dan]
and make vows in the name of the god of Beersheba— they will all fall down, never to rise again.”
