The Classroom was a Ruin

In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit took me to a school classroom somewhere in the United States in the future. The room was so decrepit that it was almost unrecognizable as a classroom. The woman teacher who had reported for duty that day looked upon a near empty room. Most of the student desks and chairs had been stolen. She had one table left that she could use as a teacher’s desk. She had no textbooks or curriculum materials with which to teach students. On one of the student desks still left in the room, a lone black keyboard lay by itself with no desktop computer to connect to. In fact, pigeons nesting inside the classroom pecked at the space between keys, searching for a crumb of something edible. The teacher stood alone with no students to teach.

Soon two staff members came by and requisitioned the one table left, taking it away to another part of the school. Eventually, only four teenage students appeared at the entrance and walked into the classroom. She had no idea what subject she was to teach them because the administration had not given her a schedule of what class was when, so she had to ask the students themselves what subject they came to learn. The students weren’t exactly sure either, but they found a place to sit. The teacher faced them, and it took all of her effort to figure out where to begin.

The Holy Spirit did not explain to me why the classroom was so decrepit. It didn’t take much for me to realize what a bankrupt economy and war would do to education in America. It is governments that fund the schools. When governments go bust and fall, the schools suffer and children go without adequate education. As I reflected on this dream vision, I also realized that the Holy Spirit was showing the consequences of the ungodliness that is going on in the schools today that will lead to their ruin should they continue on their current path.

Proverbs 1:7 NIV

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Hosea 4:6 NIV

“…my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.”

John 14:26 NIV

26 “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

Colossians 2:8 NIV

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
