When I was praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit for useful natural medicines for the people to have on hand in the troubled times ahead, the Holy Spirit gave me the rhema, “Barberry.” Sometimes the Holy Spirit will give me one name of a plant that is known by several names. In this case, barberry’s other names are mountain grape and Oregon grape. Its botanical name is Berberis vulgaris.

When I researched barberry, I found that it contains berberine. Berberine is an isoquinoline alkaloid with many uses. It is an antiparasitic (treats malaria), antiviral (reduces the viral load of Dengue fever, Zika, H1N1, HSV, HPV, HIV), and anti-inflammatory (calms the cytokine storm). It also lowers blood glucose, decreases insulin resistance, lowers blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Advocate!

Ezekiel 47:12
12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”
