Ten Commandments: Old & New Testament vs Catholic version

THE LAW OF GOD
Old Testament

I
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

II
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

III
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

IV
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is , and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

V
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

VI
Thou shalt not kill.

VII
Thou shalt not commit adultery.

VIII
Thou shalt not steal.

IX
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

X
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

– Exodus 20:3-17

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth…”

Catholicism is an evil cult religion

Are we here to build and support the body of Christ through what is coming or to rip it down and attack one another with our differences? I am Catholic. I am a born again read my bible every day confess my sins daily waiting for Jesus to come back bible is the true living Word of God woman. Yes there are differences. I am following Luke 11:27. If you follow that verse you will follow all 10 commandments no matter who’s version you are looking at. Please build the body up. We are going to NEED EACH OTHER AND TO CALL UPON JESUS NAME if we are going to successfully bring people to Christ and get through what is coming and get to our heavenly home.

Catholicism is a false religion. You cannot be born again and Catholic.

    • Theresa Nowak, why do you choose to be associated with a denomination? Jesus wasn’t a Catholic. I think we ought to be simply Christians, set apart.

    • Matthew

Theresa, you are right in that we shouldn’t be tearing down other believers. But it is important to point out false/incorrect doctrine. There may be other Catholics who read this that are not as awake as you and who don’t read their bible every day, and this may cause them to look deeper saying why is there a difference?

I do think think Catholic Church has a lot of incorrect doctrines that will lead to many who do not read the bible on their own to go to hell. However there have been many prophets who have seen true believers walk away from the Catholic Church when it turns to the one world religion in the future (the same as what will happen to the Protestant denominations.)

God knows your heart. Continue to seek him and may the Lord bless you.

Hi Theresa, I’m like you!! I’m Catholic and worship only the Trinity! I pray daily and soon I will have finished reading the whole Bible and then I will restart again! Like you, I say why tear each other down, we need to stand together and try to being as many to Christ for the days r short and He is coming soon!!!!

I grew up Lutheran and was taught the commandments wrong – from Luther’s small catechism! It’s the same way as it shows above. I’m saddened that I learned them wrong as a child-adolescent and it’s been extremely difficult to learn them the right way like when trying to teach my children!
I can’t believe that they would actually REMOVE a commandment of the one true God, Yahweh, and teach millions the same.

Romains 6/23 : Car le salaire du péché c’est la mort ; mais le don gratuit de Dieu, c’est la vie vie éternelle en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur.
