SPIRITUAL WARFARE: Binding/ Loosing & the Strongman: Be Set Free! – Elizabeth Marie

From what I am hearing and encountering lately, there are s a lot of people are ‘bound,’ and need help with many addictive sins, and demonic attacks, that need to BE SET FREE!

As the enemy tries to come into our lives and tries o kill, steal, and destroy any work of GOD, we have been given the SPIRITUAL WEAPONS we need to stop him, and become victorious. However, we need to learn HOW TO USE these spiritual weapons, so that we can remain FREE in CHRIST, and live the abundant life that HE wants us to have!

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.’ John 10:10

One of these ‘WEAPONS’ is a principle that the LORD JESUS gave Peter, and now us, that is a KEY TO THE KINGDOM: BINDING & LOOSING.

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19

This mighty spiritual weapon is called the KEYS to the KINGDOM, partly because it will OPEN and SHUT the doors in the SPIRITUAL REALM! I believe these KEYS are closely related to the KEY of DAVID, that JESUS possess, like it states in Revelation 3:7

“These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”Revelation 3:7

and

“And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” Isaiah 22:22

HOW TO ‘BIND:’

In spiritual warfare, to BIND, and CASTING OUT is a principle that can be used with demonic principalities or demons.

“Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 22:13

In deliverance, sometimes the demon needs to be BOUND (tied up), so that he has no more power to speak or move. Then he can be CAST OUT.

This can also apply to any STRONGHOLD OR STRONGMAN in your life. The word ‘BIND’ in GREEK, means to: bind: fasten with chains: to throw into chains; or to tie something up. Many times we cannot move forward spiritually, because there is a STRONGMAN that is holding us back.

It is important to ask the HOLY SPIRIT what the STRONGMAN is, so that we can, in the SPIRIT, BIND HIM, and then we will be free to move forward with GOD’s work:

“Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.” Matthew 12:29

A good example of a ‘STRONGMAN’ is a dream that my husband had. In this dream, he was driving past a forest. On the side of the road there was a poor dog that tied to the tree, and was trying to get free. So, my husband, got out of the car in order to go and rescue, and untie the mangy looking dog. However, when he got closer, a HUGE, BLACK BEAR appeared from behind the trees. This bear was a GIANT….much larger than my husband, and it stood over the poor dog in order to guard it. My husband had to leave and, because of the bear, he wasn’t able to free or untie the dog.

The GIANT, BLACK BEAR represents the STRONGMAN that is holding the dog captive. Before rescuing the dog, the bear has to be dealt with! He has to bound up, tied, and removed…then the dog can be released! This is the same principle in the Spirit world….but unfortunately, there are a lot of people that have not been delivered because there is a strongman or stronghold in their life.

However, once the STRONGMAN IS BOUND, in the name of JESUS CHRIST, then we have been set FREE, and can start dealing with, or LOOSING ourselves from other principalities, like demonic spirits that might be harassing us. A strongman/hold can be a curse, generational curse, all powers of witchcraft, sorcery, or even a person.

Recently, I have been dealing with a STRONGMAN/HOLD in my life that needs to be removed. I have done so much spiritual warfare on it, but to no avail. After crying out to the LORD, not understanding why things didn’t happen, the HOLY SPIRIT showed me that some STRONGMAN/HOLDS are harder to deal with than others. That means that they need EXTRA PRAYER AND FASTING FIRST:

“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:19-21

HOW TO ‘LOOSE:’

Back in JESUS’s day, ‘Binding and Loosing’ was a common phrase that meant to ALLOW (loose) or FORBID (bound). In Isaiah 58:6, the word LOOSE, connotates to UNTIE or LET GO:

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”

In this verse, the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY wants HIS people to LOOSE (UNTIE or SET FREE) those who are in oppression or laden with the yoke of heavy burdens.

Then, in the New Testament, we see that JESUS actually uses this principle of LOOSING, to set free, a women who had been sick for years….this was a ‘spirit of infirmity’ that had to go….and JESUS made it happen through loosing it from her!

“And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” Luke 13:11-13

In the Strongs Concordance, the actual definition of ‘LOOSE’ in Hebrew can mean to: TO OPEN; TO FREE; TO PUT OFF. And, in Greek, it means: BREAK; UNLOOSE; DESTROY; DISSOLVE; UNBIND; SET FREE; LET GO.

When under spiritual attack, we want to loose, untie, unfasten or release any chains that are trying to make us captive. This means that, in the NAME OF JESUS, any demonic attack, including any bad emotions, bitterness, resentments, anger, depression, frustration, lusts, covetousness, envy, fear, anxiety, stress, worry, pain, suffering, rejection, howlessness; suffering, torment; poverty etc. must be ‘loosed’ in the name of JESUS.

Once you RELEASE what is affecting you, in the spiritual realm, it is also now been taken care of in the heavenly realm. This is the promise that we have been given from Matthew 16:19, and Matthew 18:18. This is a HUGE benefit for us, as we have to walk in the ‘human realm’, but through this principle, we can now also be walking in the ‘heavenly realm.’

How wonderful is it for us to know that our heavenly FATHER, and the LORD JESUS, loves us so much that they have provided a way for us to set free….this is a KEY to HIS KINGDOM….it is the DOOR that is to be UNLOCKED!
