In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit took me to a simple, ordinary choir rehearsal room. The scene was nondescript—just a few folding chairs, music stands with sheet music, and a gray linoleum floor. Only a few singers, male and female, stood collected, waiting for the pianist to start. Then the Holy Spirit took me into the mind of one of the women singers.
The pianist began playing the opening notes of the piece. Within a few bars, the woman singer started to sing her part. She had sung only three notes of her song when suddenly in a flash, everything went white, an all-encompassing white, and silent. The music stand before her had disappeared, and even the room no longer existed.
The woman stood alone in a white space that, after her eyes adjusted, indicated slight movement of a white wall just in front of her. The wall glistened with tiny translucent geometric shapes that caught the light and reflected it. The shapes in the wall were moving downward. But soon the woman realized that it wasn’t the wall that was moving downward—it was she who was moving upward. She also noticed how the wall ahead was not flat but curved around her, in a radius of a few feet, as if she stood inside a cylindrical elevator with glowing walls. She was going up in a sparkling tube of light at a speed that was surprisingly comfortable and not dizzying. She had no vertigo or butterflies in her stomach, if she even had a stomach anymore. A woman of faith, she did not struggle but trusted the journey would lead her to Jesus, the Light of the World.
When writing this vision down, I asked the Holy Spirit to reveal to me if this woman was experiencing the Rapture or if she simply died suddenly in some vast explosion and was lifted up, her destination Heaven. He told me her experience includes aspects of both. He emphasized how important it is to prepare our souls for departure at any time. Repent daily and stay close to the Lord and His Word. Ask Him what else He wants you to do in the time you have left. Be like Isaiah who wrote about his commissioning: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8)
Scripture:
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Isaiah 10:17 The Light of Israel will become a fire, their Holy One a flame; in a single day it will burn and consume his thorns and his briers.
John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
John 1:9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
