In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit took me into the boardroom of a charitable foundation. A woman was presenting a grant proposal to the board of directors to fund the purchase and distribution of military test (ASVAB—Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) preparation materials. These exam preparation materials were to be given to every high school, university, and public library across the United States. The nation would soon be at a level of war that would involve military conscription, and this woman wanted to give young conscripts every opportunity to broaden their options and avoid becoming “cannon fodder”.
Scripture:
Numbers 1:1-4
The Census
1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said: 2 “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one. 3 You and Aaron are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more and able to serve in the army. 4 One man from each tribe, each of them the head of his family, is to help you.
Numbers 26:1-4
The Second Census
26 After the plague the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest, 2 “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by families—all those twenty years old or more who are able to serve in the army of Israel.” 3 So on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho, Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them and said, 4 “Take a census of the men twenty years old or more, as the Lord commanded Moses.”

Military conscription, commonly known as “the draft,” is the mandatory enlistment of individuals into a nation’s armed forces. Unlike an all-volunteer military, conscription requires citizens—typically young adults within a specific age demographic—to serve for a mandatory period, either during peacetime or in times of war.
