Listen when He speaks… – KarenO

Listen with His Spirit within you when you read!

Just yesterday I’d sent a word of encouragement, stating that an instruction from the Lord for a particular verse did not happen to me very often.

Well… This morning, as I waited on Him, he gave me a clear instruction. “Go & read Zechariah 11:2.”
I thought: What?

Does Zechariah even have 11 chapters? I don’t remember. Aren’t the minor prophets awfully short? Aren’t they called minor prophets because they aren’t well used or well known?

I read Zechariah 11:2 (NIV)Wail, O pine tree, for the Cedar has fallen; the stately trees are ruined! Wail, oaks of Bashan the dense forest has been cut down!

Cedrus libani
Cedrus libani, the cedar of Lebanon or Lebanon cedar, is a species of tree in the pine family Pinaceae, native to the mountains of the Eastern Mediterranean basin.

Scientific name: Cedrus libani
Family: Pinaceae
Higher classification: Cedar
Conservation status: Vulnerable (Population decreasing) Encyclopedia of Life
Rank: Species
Division: Pinophyta

I thought I’d heard Cedars were in danger; & checked. Yes.
What about the Oaks in what is now Syria? (Bashan)

I checked & found a news article that states the oak forests are being cut down:

Well, needless to say, I read the rest of Zechariah

Chapter 11. Zechariah 11:10 Holds a particularly pointed promise to the world & an observation we can make day-to-day!

I honestly don’t know if weather forecasters would notice the promise had been broken.
I checked for yesterday’s post of a rainbow… It was there!

Zechariah 11:10-11 (NIV)
(10) Then I took my staff called ‘Favor’ and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. (11) It was revoked on that day, and so the afflicted of the flock who were watching Me knew it was the word of the Lord.
