Chapter 6

Jer 6:1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire (beacon) in Bethhaccerem (house of the vineyard): for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction (affliction, ruin).

Although the temple is actually located in the territory of Benjamin, and not Judah, it’s interesting that God speaks to the Benjamites and not the Judahites (which is the tribe linked to the southern kingdom by default), almost as if he’s telling his true remnant to flee out of the established, visible church, which is marked for destruction.

Tekoa is about 12 miles south of Jerusalem. The town is chosen because of a play on words, as Tekoah sounds similar in the Hebrew to ‘blow’, which is tawkah. Bethhaccerem was halfway between Jerusalem and Tekoa, and built on a mountain.

Jer 6:2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

Woman is not in the Hebrew text. It can read: ‘I have likened the daughter of Zion to one that is beautiful and soft, pliable, used to luxury, even effeminate. Comely comes from a root word that can also indicate pasture or sheepfold, which may carry some weight when taken in context with the next verse.

Jer 6:3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed (devour) every one in his place (each by his own hand).

We may be tempted to look at the above verses in a positive light, but if we keep reading, we see the topic is one of Jerusalem being plundered by her enemies. Thus shepherds would refer to the leaders of these armies and flocks come from a root word that can mean a battle arrangement. The alternate meanings in brackets seem more appropriate. God is simply stating a fact that it is Jerusalem’s time to be swallowed up.

Jer 6:4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
Jer 6:5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

The sense here is the Chaldeans (Babylonians) cannot wait to start marching toward Jerusalem, once the orders were given. They will march all day and attack at night, rather than wait for first light.

Jer 6:6 For thus hath the LORD (Yehovah) of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited (hurt, punish, do judgment on); she is wholly (altogether) oppression (totally fraudulent) in the midst (heart) of her.

Again we are reminded that it is God that is ordering the Babylonians to march, and march with all haste. He is even giving them advice as to how best to breach the walls! Kind of scary to think Yehovah is the military advisor to those who are attacking the people of God. And why would God act this way? Because he has determined that the city is completely fraudulent at its very heart, or in its innermost man. An apt description, one that is essentially repeated with different words for the church in Laodicea in Rev 3:14-22.

Jer 6:7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness (evil): violence (unjust gain and spoil (oppression, robbery) is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

Fountains continually spew water, so Jerusalem is said to continually spew evil, and every other abominable thing. God says that before his face is grief. This is the same Hebrew word used in Isaiah 53:4, where it is said the Messiah bore our griefs. It means anxiety, calamity, sickness, and disease. These curses are the result of rebellious behaviour. Jesus hung on that cross and bore this very same judgment that Judah is now experiencing. If we choose to act in the same way the Israelites did during Jeremiah’s time, then you can claim Jesus sacrifice all you want, it will do you no good, as only the truly submitted and obedient have any right to escape God’s righteous judgments.

Perhaps another hint of something deeper is that God is previewing for us what conditions will look like in our cities that will cause him to send enemies. In the last 4 years, are we not surrounded by anxiety, calamity, sickness and disease due to the bioweapons and the tyrannical forms of government that have sprung up as a result? Can we now glimpse yet another confirmation why we are living in the same pattern as the day of Jeremiah?

Jer 6:8 Be thou instructed (chastised, corrected), O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee (abandons you); lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Will we not learn by accepting the reality of the last 4 years? God has withdrawn our hedge of protection and his presence has drawn back. Does he have to depart our land altogether? The poisoning of the land and the sterility of our tribe is well underway, does he have to make a full end of us before we turn?

Jer 6:9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

Even those few who escaped the Assyrians when the northern kingdom was wiped out over 100 years ago would not escape this judgment. The situation got so bad that even the remnant was being judged. The imagery is of the grape gatherer working until the very last grape was harvested.

Jer 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach (disgrace); they have no delight (pleasure, inclination to walk) in it.

A deaf ear is one that refuses to hear the rebuke of God. I remember attending a prayer meeting many months ago, and was led to share a passage from Ezekiel chapter 9, where God sends out his angels with their slaughtering weapons in their hand. It was as if ice cold water had been immediately poured into the atmosphere. You could palpably sense the complete rejection of this strong word of judgment by everyone in the room. To them, the word of the Lord was a disgrace, as their religion did not allow for such things. They certainly had no delight or inclination to walk in it! Needless to say, God shut down that prayer group permanently not too many months after.

Jer 6:11 Therefore I am full of the fury (rage, wrath) of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children (olawl – infants) abroad, and upon the assembly of young men (bawkhoor – youths) together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken (captured), the aged with him that is full of days.

All age groups will be judged, even as today all age groups are being killed. First they killed the aged in the care homes with madazalam. Then they killed the sick with remdesivir and ventilators. Then they unleashed the snake venom bioweapon on the adults. Not satisfied with that, they then injected the pregnant and the children. And then, of course, the babies had to be included.

The above could easily be rendered ‘Full of rage and wrath, Jehovah is weary with holding it in, etc.’. i believe it makes more sense that God is almost out of control with anger, rather than Jeremiah. It better fits the context, and continues God’s discourse about how he really feels when his people have gone so far into sin and rebellion, that there is literally no other solution but wrath.

Jer 6:12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

Property confiscation is waiting for the unrepentant. In Europe, they have been forcing people to turn their vacation homes over to the immigrants for years now. In Canada, the province of British Columbia has just passed a law this year that will cause the vacation rental market to dry up as you now have to rent out your property for a minimum of 3 months and not for days or weeks, so vacationers will not be able to access these properties anymore, as they just want to stay for a day or a week. I believe that his is in order to cause more people to sell properties so the foreigners can acquire even more of our assets. All laws in the west are being geared to strip the natives of their wealth, as all these illegal invaders will have to be placed somewhere. If they can’t kill us fast enough, then they also can make life so unaffordable that many will lose their homes, property, and even their wives, as how many families have been ripped apart by one spouse not taking the jab, losing their job, and the other leaving because they now have no income? Yet the key point that Jeremiah teaches us is that all these things come from the hand of God. It is our sin, our lukewarmness, our rebellion that has brought this upon us. Note who is stretching out his hand upon us – it’s God, not the devil or the cabal.

Jer 6:13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness (gain, profit); and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely (lies).
Jer 6:14 They have healed also the hurt (destruction, ruin) of the daughter of my people slightly (lightly, in a trifling manner), saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace (saying shalom, shalom, when there is no shalom).

Our prosperity and kingdom now preaching is based on lust and love of self. Our church leaders have lied to us, telling us God never judges his people, bringing very little healing, and not accepting the obvious truth before their eyes that there is no peace in any land, only death. Nothing is more toxic to the soul of a disciple than embracing the lies of a false prophet.

Jer 6:15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination (something disgusting morally, especially idolatry)? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

One sure way to know you are spiritually dying (or dead already) is when you become indifferent to gross immorality, the shedding of innocent blood, and the refusal to remove idols out of your heart. This verse says those people, even if they say they are God’s people, will fall with all the other heathen, and it will be at the time that I choose to visit them.

Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Stand in the course of life that is the ancient path, where the good road is found, and follow it, and you shall find a resting place for your nephesh (your soul). But they said: ‘We will not follow that way.’.

God continually calls us to return to the original revealed truth found in the scripture. Quit being seduced by the false teachers who so subtly convince the listeners that we must modernize the gospel message to appeal to our generation. I am so sick and tired of modern music, modern ways of speaking that have so dumbed down the English language that a whole boatload of meaning is lost, all to try and win the internet addicted, sodomy accepting, white skin hating, woke crowd in our churches.

We must rediscover the foundational doctrines of repentance and judgments.

Jer 6:17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

God then sent them true prophets to warn them, but to no avail. I remember after 911, David Wilkerson was about the only prominent voice in America that suggested that 911 was a sign of God’s judgment. I subscribed to Charisma magazine at that time, and he was universally lambasted and rejected for saying such a thing. It was universally believed that God never sends evil, its always the devil. All we needed to do was huff and puff and shout louder at the devil, and take back our authority in Christ and other such nonsense and all would be well.

I wonder how all that is working out today?

Jer 6:18 Therefore hear, ye nations (goy – Gentiles), and know, O congregation, what is among them (or, what is to come).

God then calls attention to all the heathen, and to the congregation. He is about to reveal something.

Jer 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even (due to) the fruit of their thoughts (plans, intentions, imaginations), because they have not hearkened (pricked up the ears) unto my words, nor to my law (torah), but rejected it (cast it away).

What people? The people of God. Note once again who is bringing the evil. Not the devil, not the WEF, or the WHO, or your favourite villain, but God. God brings evil not capriciously, as other false gods are said to do, but always for a specific reason, and it always has to do with his mishpat – his judgment, which is the bedrock or the foundation of his ways.

The harvest you will reap if you don’t embrace God’s torah (his commandments) is a corrupted thought life that will control your plans, your intent, and your imagination. If you are having trouble with runaway thoughts, perhaps you should ask God if there is some command he has given you that you are not hearkening to.

Jer 6:20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

It is an utter abomination that so many false pastors teach incessantly on tithes and offerings, yet rarely ever touch on self-denial, taking up the cross daily, and following Him in truth and without guile. Get this through your heads – God does not need your money, you are not under a curse because you haven’t put something in the offering plate every time a man browbeats you about it. But you may find yourself under a curse if your whole heart does not truly belong to the Lord. Let’s please stop listening to greedy, carnal men and start embracing the pure words of God, no matter how tough they are, and no matter how many church friends you may lose.

Jer 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks (obstacles, enticements) before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish (wander away, lose oneself, have no way to flee).

A believer, or a congregation, or a denomination, or a tribe, or a nation, that rejects God’s word and his ways will find that God will become your enemy. He will place stumblingblocks, obstacles, even enticements in your path. The purpose listed here is so that you perish. Note that this is not what God ever does initially to a soul that sins. First he will try every way possible to get you to turn back. But you can come to a place of such continual rebellion that God is almost forced to take action to stop you, lest you take down many others in your evil ways. Note that there is no safety in numbers for these people, it doesn’t matter if your whole family or if your entire neighbourhood is walking the same way, you will all perish.

Now just to complete the above thought, James 1:13-15 says that God tempts no man. This is no way contradicts what Jeremiah has just said. Wicked believers will try and say they couldn’t help sinning, because God made me that way, or God made me do it. James stops such foolishness in its tracks. What God is speaking about here is not how he deals with those who can yet be redeemed, but with the reprobate, the totally hardened, those whom he has tried everything to reach, yet are now unreachable. Just as with Pharaoh, there can come a time when God will stop dealing with you, and may even use you as a vessel of destruction, fit only to display some aspect of his power and glory (see Rom 9:17). We can easily envision several names in the globalist and the government camps that could easily fit this bill today.

Jer 6:22 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides (rear, flank) of the earth.
Jer 6:23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel (terrible), and have no mercy (compassion); their voice roareth (tumults, rages, clamours) like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.
Jer 6:24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish (distress, tribulation) hath taken hold of us, and pain (sorrow), as of a woman in travail.

Another example of the north direction being the direction of judgment, in this case, Babylon.

Quite the picture of the globalists, who packaged genocide as medicine, who went after the weakest and most helpless in our society the hardest (the aged, infirm, children, and pregnant women), and who incessantly propagandized us to death (clamoured non stop) with their ‘safe and effective’ mantra.

Jer 6:25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

Lockdowns were the order of the day in the great deception of 2020. Fear was their stock in trade, and they wielded it as effectively as anyone has ever seen.

Jer 6:26 O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth (restrain yourself on every side), and wallow (roll) thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler (destroyer) shall suddenly (quickly, unexpectedly, in a wink of an eye) come upon us.

Here is the commandment to the remnant for the season we are in. Not Jericho marches, no ridiculous flag waving when the music plays, distracting others who are trying to worship, no declaring meaningless decrees of victory and other utter nonsense, but quite the opposite. Someone dancing, singing and shouting is not showing a heart that understands the season we are in. We are about to lose everything that is dear to us – is this a time for revelling?

Jer 6:27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try (examine, test) their way (course of life, mode of action).

Jeremiah would be defended by God since he spoke the truth. When God tests your course or path of life that you are walking on, what will he find?

Jer 6:28 They are all grievous revolters (backsliders, people who turn away), walking with slanders (talebearers, scandal mongers): they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.
Jer 6:29 The bellows are burned (glowing), the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder (refiner) melteth in vain (to no purpose): for the wicked are not plucked away (drawn off).
Jer 6:30 Reprobate (loathsome) silver (money) shall men call them, because the LORD (Yehovah) hath rejected them (cast them away, caused them to disappear).

The sense here is that God has tried to purify them by judgments, but they are so impure that you can’t refine them enough to produce anything of value from them, they are that corrupt. Doesn’t this passage send shivers down your spine, as all of us have relatives and friends that even after 4 years of depopulating poisonous tyrannical madness, they still have no idea that anything out of the ordinary is going on. Still worse, are those in the body of Christ that have taken all these calamities in stride, having no idea that God is doing everything possible to get our attention to turn our lives over to him in the way that he demands, not like our churches have taught. Woe, woe, woe unto humanity – the Lord has only begun. 2024 will not be kind to those who don’t have ears to hear.

This passage will be the epitaph written on the gravestone of the Laodicean church, for all those who refuse to open the door when Jesus comes by and knocks. Let us make sure that the door is answered promptly and swung wide open when he comes to call.
