Sometime between Jan 1 and Jan 2, 2020, I was playing Scrabble against the computer when the computer spelled out the word j-e-h-u. The Lord mostly speaks to me in names and numbers, so I took notice. I thought Jehu to be a name only so I was a little surprised to see this word appear before me. The dictionary defines Jehu as 2) a driver of a coach or cab and 1) capitalized: a king of Israel in the ninth century b.c. who according to the account in I I Kings had Jezebel killed in accordance with Elijah’s prophecy.
From past speculations I knew Jehu was possibly referencing President Donald Trump (he has also been likened to King Cyrus). At first glance the significance of the name didn’t strike me….until recently when I started reading on the growing division between America and Iran. Based on prophecy and my discernment, I believe God has appointed Donald Trump to the office of President and that we have been given a reprieve while he remains in that office. However I also believe his arrogance and reliance on his will, not God’s, will one day lead us into war.
The following are some key observations on Jehu drawn from biblestudyresources.org:
1) Jehu went beyond the call of duty in doing God’s work.
2) Jehu was asked to kill the entire family of Ahab. However he went beyond that and killed many other people who are associated with Ahab.
2 Kings 9:11 11 So Jehu killed all who were left of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, all his leaders, close friends, and priests, until he left him no survivor.
3) This action was later condemned by God and judgment pronounced on Jehu.
Hosea 1:4-5 4 And the Lord said to him, “Name him Jezreel; for in a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5 On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.”
4). It is possible in our zeal to do God’s work to be “over-doing” leading to terrible consequences.
5) (Jehu) denounced the sin of others while not aware of (his) own sins. He eliminated one form of idolatry, Baal worship, only to uphold another by continuing to worship the golden calves Jeroboam had set up.
Political views aside, I believe I was given the name Jehu because the body of Christ needs to, now more than ever, closely follow the actions of our President so that we can lift him up in prayer as the Holy Spirit leads us to. In the end every message, every warning is a call to prayer.
I was a doing a final edit of this post and happened to glance at the time on my tablet. The time was 11:01, the hour of judgment.
