It Is the Worst Of Times, It Is the Worst of Times

While reading one of the posts on this site, I distinctly heard the Holy Spirit speak to me, “It was the worst of times, it was the worst of times.” The literary illusion is obviously to the opening sentence of Charles Dickens’ famous historical fiction novel, A Tale of Two Cities (set in London and Paris in the period prior to the French Revolution), which begins “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…”
In law practice, there is a concept sometimes referred to as a “discovered truth” case. As one is presenting the evidence to a judge, jury, arbitrator or what have you, legal counsel lays out the facts and legal principles in such a manner that (hopefully!) the one who is deciding the case sees the point and does not need extensive legal persuasion. In short, they can “discover the truth” for themselves.
And so, here we are, in the worst of times. The very worst of times. And it is a matter so plain that anyone should be able to discover the truth for themselves.
The First of the Great Disasters has already begun, namely the economic decline of America and the slow death of the dollar on the world stage. Other disasters will follow, in God’s good time, as will His grace for those who will accept it.
