Dream of José Luis Rivas, Paraguay

I was talking with three men who, in the dream, were people I knew.

We were sitting on individual chairs, gathered at the home of one of them.

We were talking about how to pray for people.

I told them that a person who wanted others to pray for them should be specific when making a prayer request.

Then we gave an example:

“Brother So-and-so is a gossip. We all know it. Instead of praying for him in a general way, we should mention his actual problem, even if it is uncomfortable, so that our prayer may be effective.”

The men looked at one another and said, “It’s true. The brother is a gossip.”

We laughed a little, but without taking the matter any less seriously.

Note

Gossip is the most common sin within congregations, yet in practice, it is not treated as a sin.

There are also mistaken ideas, such as the belief that only the person who spreads the gossip is sinning, while the person who listens to it is not. In reality, both are participating.

Whether true or false, gossip serves to undermine the testimony and reputation of the person being discussed. The purpose of gossip is not to restore or uplift the person being talked about.

Bible Verses

Job 33:14–16

14. For God speaks in one way, and in another, yet people do not perceive it.

15. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon people as they slumber in their beds,

16. then He opens the ears of people and gives them instruction.

Acts 2:17

17. And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

Romans 1:28–31

28. And since people did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

29. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips;

30. slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;

31. they are senseless, faithless, heartless, and merciless.

Proverbs 16:28

“A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.”

Proverbs 18:8 (and Proverbs 26:22)

“The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.”

Proverbs 20:19

“A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.”

Proverbs 26:20

“Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip, a quarrel dies down.”

Proverbs 11:13

“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.”

COMO ORAR POR LOS DEMÁS – La oración debe ser específica

sueño de José Luis Rivas, Paraguay

YO ESTABA CONVERSANDO CON TRES VARONES, QUE EN EL SUEÑO, ERAN MIS CONOCIDOS.

ESTÁBAMOS SENTADOS EN SILLAS INDIVIDUALES, REUNIDOS EN LA CASA DE ALGUNO DE ELLOS.

ESTÁBAMOS HABLANDO DE COMO ORAR POR LAS PERSONAS.

LES DECÍA, QUE LA PERSONA QUE DESEABA QUE SE ORASE POR ELLA, DEBÍA SER ESPECIFICA AL PEDIR ORACIÓN.

ENTONCES, PUSIMOS UN EJEMPLO:

EL HERMANO FULANO ES CHISMOSO, TODOS LO SABEMOS; Y EN VEZ DE ORAR POR EL EN FORMA GENERAL, DEBEMOS MENCIONAR SU PROBLEMA REAL, AUNQUE SEA INCÓMODO, PARA QUE NUESTRA ORACIÓN SEA EFICAZ.

LOS MUCHACHOS SE MIRARON A LA CARA, Y DIJERON: ES VERDAD, EL HERMANO ES CHISMOSO.

NOS REÍMOS UN POCO, PERO SIN QUITAR SERIEDAD AL ASUNTO.

Sueño de José Luis Rivas

Nota:

Job 33:14-16

14 Sin embargo, en una o en dos maneras habla Dios;

Pero el hombre no entiende.

15 Por sueño, en visión nocturna,

Cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres,

Cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho

16 Entonces revela al oído de los hombres,

Y les señala su consejo,

Hechos 2:17

17 Y en los postreros días, dice Dios,

Derramaré de mi Espíritu sobre toda carne,

Y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas profetizarán;

Vuestros jóvenes verán visiones,

Y vuestros ancianos soñarán sueños;

Romanos 1:28-31

28 Ya que la gente creyó que no era importante conocer a Dios, él los dejó que siguieran pervirtiendo su mente y terminaron haciendo lo que no deben.

29 Esta gente se mantiene haciendo toda clase de injusticia, corrupción, codicia y maldad. Viven llenos de envidia, asesinatos, peleas y fraudes. Siempre están pensando mal de los demás. Son unos chismosos;
