In a dream vision twelve days ago, the Holy Spirit showed me a large cooking pot. I peered inside and saw in the middle of the pot a small tuft of hair colored strawberry blond sticking up above the water line. This shock of hair belonged to a tiny man the size of a doll or action figure. Suddenly, I recognized the figure as President Donald J. Trump. Then I heard the words, “He’s cooked.”

When I awoke, I looked up the meanings of the slang expression “cooked.” The idiom means that someone or something is in a state of failure, ruin, or exhaustion, often indicating that they are “done for” or hopelessly defeated. It is widely used to describe a disastrous situation, extreme tiredness, or being caught in a compromising position. In Gen Z slang, “cooked” means someone is in trouble, defeated, exhausted, or mentally burnt out. “Cooked” implies a hopeless situation or being overwhelmed.

The Bible commands us as believers to pray for our leaders—regardless of political affiliation—to ensure peace, wisdom, and righteous governance. Key verses urge prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for kings and all in authority so people may lead quiet, godly lives.

Key Bible Verses to Pray for Leaders:

1 Timothy 2:1-4: Urges prayer for all in authority to promote peace and lead people toward acknowledging truth.

Proverbs 21:1: States that “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.”

Romans 13:1: Reminds that authority is instituted by God and serves as a governing servant.

Ezra 6:10: Highlights praying for the life of rulers.

How to Pray for Leaders:

For Wisdom & Discernment: Pray they make decisions aligned with God’s will and seek wise counsel.

For Protection: Pray for the protection of the leader, their family, and their health.

For Integrity & Justice: Pray they rule with righteousness, protect the vulnerable, and act with integrity.

For Salvation: Pray that leaders come to know and fear God.

Scripture:

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)

2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Proverbs 21:1 (NIV)

In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.

Romans 13:1 (NIV)

13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.

Ezra 6:9-10 (NIV)

9 Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, male lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, and wheat, salt, wine and olive oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given them daily without fail, 10 so that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons.
