I had a dream where I was driving a farm grain truck. I was driving on a gravel road that I had been on before. I was approaching a turn off that I had always in the past turned onto as my common and regular direction. However, this time I couldn’t find the brake or the gas pedal with me feet and I knew I was going to run the stop sign, and I hoped there wasn’t any traffic.

I did make it across, and now was on a road I’ve never been on before. From my previous experience, it had always looked empty, but this time there was much construction on it. There were deep gouges in the road, various posts and barriers stuck in the road, and men and machinery.

I still had no control over the brakes so I steered my way through the dangers as best I could. I felt like I was hitting some of the upright barriers, but it wasn’t slowing my momentum. After awhile, I spotted some sort of large building with a parking lot, which I was able to turn into, and my vehicle slowed enough that I was finally able to stop.

I got out of the truck and went inside the building, looking for some sort of help. All I saw was one old, unfriendly woman. I then found myself back in the truck and began to retrace my steps so I could get back on the correct path.

On this reversal journey, I found that I had to ride through an area where some sort of exhibition or amusement park was situated. In fact, I had to traverse this very steep, smooth road straight up, and it felt like being on the upward climb of a roller coaster, but travelling much faster.

When I got to the top, I encountered someone in an entrance area who demanded that I pay a 40.00 entrance fee. I stated that I never had to pay to pass through before. My arguing attracted his supervisor and he said I only had to pay 3.00 to pass. While I was opening my fanny pack to get my wallet out to pay, the first man stuck his hand in there and took out a small container that held some valuable coins. He then slipped it into an inside pocket. I started to wrestle him over it, trying to get it back. Then I woke up.

Interpretation: Being on a farm truck in a rural area may represent a typical place believers may be forced to flee to. Losing control of the truck, having it go in a direction that we have never gone down and don’t want to, represent the trials and situations of these end days that believers will be forced to endure. No one would choose to go down these roads, but one greater than ourselves is in control, not us.

This strange road will have many dangers and roadblocks. Even as I had no control to stop the truck as it hurtled toward and through this dangerous road, so we are not given a choice as to whether or not we go through this tribulation. I did have, however, some limited ability to steer. This represents the choices we do have power to make, as far as how we choose to respond to this strange, dangerous path we are on. Will we steer according to the best of our ability, with the word and the Spirit, or will we let fear paralyze us and simply crash?

Stopping in the parking lot represents the lulls we will have in our trials. Realizing we have been taken off course may mean that there may be times where we will need to retrace our steps. The unfriendly old woman represents the fact that the world will not approve or help us in getting back on track. Look not to man for your help.

Reversing my path, I found myself having to pass through this amusement park complex. The road that led straight up, smooth and fast like a roller coaster, produced a strong emotional response of something close to panic. The represents the allures and temptations of the world. If they cannot seduce you through the temptation to succumb to momentary pleasures, they will then try to overwhelm you with fear and panic.

When I thought I was close to retracing my steps, I had to pass through a gatekeeper, who wanted to rob me via extortion. Though I experienced a little help via his manager, ultimately I ended up wrestling with this evil one over what I possessed.

I believe this represents the fact that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but with the various evil entities listed in the scripture. We can expect assistance, but ultimately, we need to decide to persist in the battle. The fact that I woke up before the outcome of the battle was decided indicates that victory for each individual is not a sure thing. The fact that this entity tried to steal my money represents the devil trying to snatch our eternal treasure, even our very lives.

Ultimately, the primary feeling was one of intense struggle. A feeling of not being in control of one’s circumstances. A warning, perhaps, to prepare your heart as best you can for the events about to come.
