Go to the Ant, You Sluggard

Proverbs 6:6–11 (KJV) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
It has been unseasonably warm where I live in California. Last night, I was up until 3:00 a.m. When I went into the kitchen, I saw zillions of ants at my dog’s food and water dishes.
Now, that is very unusual! Those dishes have been there for 16 months, and I have never seen a single ant. There was also a very large, wide trail of ants running underneath my washer and dryer and out the back door.
I sprayed them with spot remover. Then I asked the Lord if this was a message. It has been on my mind for several hours now.
Just for your information, the ants were swarming over my dog’s dry food. I threw everything away and put the food outside. When I checked later in the day, not a single ant was eating that food outside.
God speaks in interesting ways!
Many prophets have given words about wild weather and extreme cold coming, with winters lasting longer than usual. Wetter conditions are also expected in some places.
Vicky Go Forth Parnell spoke about this in her latest post, as have The Master’s Voice.com, Isaac Alvarado, and Sandra West.
God has been having me watch YouTube videos about how elderly people live in Ukraine and Russia. They live in the countryside, high in the mountains. Most have no cars. Their log cabins are 200 years old and have been passed down through their families.
They have no running water. They have hand-dug wells lined with stone, or they must get help traveling to rivers to collect water.
These people are strong believers. They give God glory in everything they do, even when they greet one another.
I have been learning from the Amish, the Russians, and history about how to survive.
God showed me people sleeping by the fireplace to stay warm and doing everything possible to keep one room in the house warm. I have also watched women living under similar conditions in Iran. They have no stove in the house. Instead, they cook outside using something I might consider junk. However, it works! No one thinks it is strange.
All these countries, along with people in America throughout history, have used similar methods to stay warm and prepare for difficult conditions.
Did these people talk to one another about these methods? Ah, no, I don’t think so. The old ways work!
Prepare for the Days Ahead
A note: God has had me stock up on wool underwear, snow pants, down jackets, wool blankets, solar generators to run lights, cashmere beanies, scarves, and warm gloves.
He also led me to purchase cast-iron pots and pans that can be used for cooking over a fire. He spoke to me about purchasing firewood and cords to keep warm and cook. I would not be subject to power outages.
Don’t plan on things being the way they have been all your life. Look to the old ways.
Learn how to can your food, have a root cellar, and store your food that way. Think long-term. You save money by having supplies on hand, and you don’t have to travel to get what you need.
Look to nature. My dog is putting on her winter coat, and it is very thick! The leaves are falling from the trees. Let them be. They help retain moisture around plants and provide insulation.
Read up on hay boxes as a way to cook food over a longer period while conserving energy. Learn about solar cooking and water filters, too.
God showed me that gasoline would become valuable, like water.
FOOD AND WATER ARE YOUR GOLD AND SILVER.

These are just a few ideas to help direct your path. I realize that people all over the world experience different weather conditions. I live in Zone 10, where the weather is very mild, so I need to learn how to prepare, too.
