Get Ready To Fly

Last night, I prayed that God would show me something to share with others. This is the dream I had:

I was on an airplane that was preparing for takeoff. Instead of being on an airport runway, the plane was on a city freeway. The plane would gather up speed to take off, but would then slow down again because cars would be in the way. Finally, we got to an elevated stretch of freeway. The amazing pilot said, “This is how we do it!” and gathered up speed quickly and took off.

I believe the city represents the world, and the cars on the freeway represent distractions that keep us from gathering the momentum we need to really “take flight” spiritually. I don’t think this message was only for others — it was also a warning to me. The past three weeks, I have been quite ill with a virus, and a week ago, I brought my laptop back into the house from our shop out back where I usually keep it, and instead of reading scripture and writing, I have wasted a lot of time scrolling YouTube.

Technology is a HUGE distraction for all of us. Our solution was to get it all out of the house. No computers — it is in the shop. Even the smartphone that I only use for videos is there. The only tech that lives in the house is a flip phone. There is no TV, as we have no use for the world’s “programming”. It is annoying to have to go out to the shop every time I want to look something up or check email, so it gets put off, and I spend less time distracted. I will say that the less I use it, the closer I am to God.

I talk a bit more about this in a short video I made about this dream.

In another dream, God showed me how screen time is literally a thief. We know what it is stealing!
