In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit took me to an island in the Pacific Ocean. The island was quite small, not more than 100 square miles in size, and I was sitting next to a woman on a public bus that was taking us and other workers around the island. The woman was explaining to me that since the takeover of the island by a foreign power (she did not mention the nation, but I sensed it was China), and even in the days before the invasion, there had been interruptions of the supply chain, and the residents of the island did not have enough food for everyone. The island itself did not have sufficient farms to cultivate crops for the population it supported, and had been dependent on food supplies delivered by cargo ships and planes. When the ships and planes stopped coming, the food supply dwindled to a point so low that rationing—combined with increased fishing—could not solve the problem. People had begun to starve.

Soon the bus stopped at a spot near the ocean where the sea water came in to a cove. From the window, I observed an apparatus that was set up for people to climb a narrow staircase to a small deck above the ocean’s water. The tide was high, and I saw three such staircases with ‘observation’ platforms with a bar that kept people from falling into the water. Standing on each platform was a man or woman. Suddenly, noisy blasts went off and the platforms on which the people stood went vertical, dropping the people into the rough waters. I quickly realized that the people had been executed in some automatic manner, and they were already dead by the time their bodies hit the water of the high tide. Soon the receding tide would take their bodies out to sea, where they would be food for sharks and other marine life that would be caught and eaten by the islanders.

The woman next to me explained that under the new administration, a lottery had been set up to randomly select the people to be killed and ‘buried’ at sea—their sacrifice justified for the greater good of the community. The leadership had no mercy and did not respect the native islanders’ Christian funeral and burial rites for those selected for death at sea.

The Holy Spirit is warning the people of a severe famine to come, caused by supply chain disruptions and war. Inhabitants of islands dependent on food imports are especially vulnerable. Invaders will feed their own people first. In times of war and martial law, some may starve or even be selected by lottery for death to conserve the limited food supply.

Repent and pray for God’s mercy upon us. Beseech the Lord to lessen the severity of famines to come and to miraculously multiply food for those who call upon Him. Amen.

Scripture:

2 Kings 6:24-25 NIV

24 Some time later, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria. 25 There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.

2 Chronicles 20:9 NIV

9 ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.’

Job 5:17-26 NIV

17 “Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
18 For he wounds, but he also binds up;
he injures, but his hands also heal.
19 From six calamities he will rescue you;
in seven no harm will touch you.
20 In famine he will deliver you from death,
and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
21 You will be protected from the lash of the tongue,
and need not fear when destruction comes.
22 You will laugh at destruction and famine,
and need not fear the wild animals.
23 For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field,
and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
24 You will know that your tent is secure;
you will take stock of your property and find nothing missing.
25 You will know that your children will be many,
and your descendants like the grass of the earth.
26 You will come to the grave in full vigor,
like sheaves gathered in season.

Amos 8:11-12 NIV

11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord,
“when I will send a famine through the land—
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 People will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the Lord,
but they will not find it.

Revelation 20 NIV

13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
