And as Samuel turned to go, he grasped the edge of his robe, and it tore. Then Samuel said to him, ‘The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.’
The Lord has been speaking to His children for a long time; many of them (ministers, people in leadership) have been given chances to do what He wants, how He wants, but many have been like Saul and have resisted.
* Arrogance in doing things their own way
* Disobedient and not truly repentant
* Pleasing man more than God
That is why the Lord is about to take away from many what He had given them (I am not talking about gifts).
In this sense, the Lord’s calling is for His people: true repentance.
* Truly stop doing things our way
* Enter into a true commitment with God, turning our hearts to Him and ONLY to God
* Free ourselves from commitments to money and people, fame, etc.
Let us not repeat Saul’s mistake before it is too late and we have to live situations like Saul. Let us turn back to God and leave behind any commitments that may lead us to be disobedient.
