Dream: Ash on the Beach

I dreamed I was living in a two-story beach house.  No people around.  Ocean not peaceful.   Outside, the sand was dark with ash.  The vista was hemmed in by looming buildings that stood broken, dark, and utterly dilapidated.

Suddenly, I was on a train tour.  On the left, I seemed to see a place for tourists.  I looked closer and to my shock, it was actually a graveyard –  how could that be a tourist spot?  Then the train dropped down fast like a roller coaster.  I felt very scared because I was an anxious person and absolutely disliked the terrifying rush of adrenaline.

I went back to my beach house.  I found that it used to be a restaurant before it closed down – maybe it went under? I wasn’t sure.  When I walked inside, strangers were there.

“I like your cozy bed,” a tourist said, gesturing toward a mattress that appeared thoroughly ordinary to me.

I went upstairs.  Clusters of visitors stood admiring a collection of my old vases and dusty jewel boxes.  They gaped at these items with profound admiration, though to me, they were merely neglected trinkets I had long since cast aside and ignored.  However, such little things seemed to bring about much comfort and serenity in that dark world.  Then I woke up.

Interpretation:

  • A Changing World: Difficult times are coming.  The world will become dark, and many people will die.  The scary roller coaster ride shows the anxiety you will feel during these difficult and drastic changes.
  • Finding Peace: When the outside world breaks down, simple things become special.  A normal bed and old items will bring comfort and peace to people who are lost in despair.
  • New Ways to Survive: True christians enjoy the extraordinary protection by God, and they will find new business ideas in hard times, such as allowing people to tour around their homes to offer them comfort.

“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them from fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”  (Luke 21:24-25)

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2)
