Dream: Acend Above Demons (With Todd White)

First: the brief presence and bare hint of Todd White in this dream has almost no connection to my life. I've never been to any Todd White events or met him.

Dream:

I was in some kind of a horrific war against enemies that needed to be shot, but they kept getting harder and harder to take down. It felt sort of like a video game at first as we, a small group, traversed through some kind of dark and dingy city. As we went, it became apparent that one in our friendly company was eagerly searching for someone, a minister. I think the minister was Todd White, yet he was not treated as easy to identify (and may have been symbolic).

We came to the point of despair because as we came through a checkpoint with fences and guards, we ascended to another area above a concrete stair entrance: there we were caught from behind by one enemy in particular who was seemingly invincible. It was a large man-like abomination with a “reddish” spirit (dream effect) and a beastly strength and appearance. I made a joke to my companions beforehand: something about how “…if we only brought five shells, we’ll still put you in a shallow grave.” My overconfidence would prove misplaced. I had a semi-auto grip & stock shotgun, and another weapon slung over my back. Just then the demon appeared, and we began shooting. But he kept coming (I think that it was grabbing people down at the low level of the stair). After I emptied my shotgun with all five slugs making good hits, I had nothing to do but run the other way up the stairs. As we kept going we realized that the stairs were changing atmosphere. I saw that one of my companions, who was not spiritual or not very Christian, was getting heavy in the legs and it was almost like he was going to be stuck to the floor. He was not tired: he just had the wrong spirit to climb the stair of holiness. So I reached down and grabbed his collar and began helping him up the stairs the last few steps.
We reached a peaceful room that seemed rather whitish in the floors. There was a small group of people up there in this apartment seated at a table and others were doing other things in the background, I dont know what. We ran into one man in particular who recognized us and helped us get adjusted. At that point, there was an awkward reunion of sorts, although I don’t know if I knew anyone there. We completely forgot about the shooting of the demons and how horrible it felt to be hopeless and incapable of stopping them.

The next part of the dream was after we said hello to the people; we started looking for Todd White. We may have used a small boat to go down a river, but at least we went down a hallway for sure, and we were about to locate him, or we barely saw him, right before I woke up.

End of Dream

Interpretation:

The dream is straightforward until the end. We were fighting the world and its demons, both carnal and spiritual enemies of righteousness, at first hoping to control the situation with basic tools including shotguns and other weapons. However, it soon became clear that the demons were going to ruin us down to the last man if we stayed on their level pelting them with slugs or bullets. It was the only right choice: going up. We had to take the bright, clean white stairway of righteousness, and then both carnal people and demons suddenly could not lift their own weight up the stairs no matter how invincible they had been below on the world. This shows that as we draw near to God, His kingdom envelops us and the evil one can’t touch us. Perhaps this dream includes Todd White to emphasize what his gospel is known for: reaching out to pray for people in every avenue of life and the focus being on the Father’s love for His children as the core and momentum driving the full gospel into the lives of those who hate God, His gospel, Jesus Christ, and the church: love for the lost and our enemies is better than defeating our enemies.

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
