In the quiet, as I kneel, yearning in search of the real, the true, the godly, the holy—those who love You first, solely.

Please take my words. Please take my heart. Please tame my tongue to the very last part. Please take me to Your service call. I want Your service; I want it all.

May I yield when pushed.
May I turn when struck.
May I remain quiet when my feelings go amok.

Your Word says to wait on You.
It’s quiet.
I wait for Your truth.

In this quiet, may I find Your voice.
It’s You I follow—I have no choice.
You have provided for me again and again. You’ve protected, provided, and strengthened me within.

May I be no fool, failing to understand what this all means. I do comprehend the way is not a life filled with praise; it’s about being a servant, serving You completely as a slave.

I peer into the journey of the prophets long ago. They point the way within the stories told. It was death to self the prophets mastered. They trusted You, then were blessed from prayers answered. They experienced loss of possessions, family, and wealth. Even Job was tested by the giving up of his health.

How is it that we expect to slide right through without the purging of self and our possessions too? When our purging begins and we’re pushed to the seams, how is it that the first word why is screamed?

May I not expect fluff while passing Your test.
May my hide be tough as I join the rest—
the ones who gave all and considered it gain, rejoicing inwardly while experiencing outward pain.

In this quiet, please strengthen my soul to stay in the race as I too strive for the goal. The prophets, the apostles, the trailblazers—they knew this race requires grit, discipline, and training, too.

Help me to understand, as I whisper to You, that it’s going to take faith and total trust in You. It won’t be easy, and I may lose it all, for this is what it means to answer Your call.

In this quiet, I hear the sound of the trailblazer’s pace.
My shoes are tied.
Steady me, Lord—
I’m back in the race.

God bless you.
