I am republishing this archived article, with extensive updates, in light of the 2520 week marker which appears tomorrow (September 11).  Please first glance at my very recent, short article here which explains how profound is the timing.  Note– due to the importance of “9/11” being used as the standard abbreviation for The Day Of Infamy, I will be applying American-style (month followed by day) date rendering throughout this article.

Deuteronomy 32:1 to 7: “Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?  Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.”

Introduction:

I think that most people, both Christians and non-Christians, can “sense” that there is something eerily and profoundly deep about the Don McLean song American Pie.  Perhaps many, however, are partially satisfied with the prevailing theory that this riveting, poignant, cryptic hymn deals primarily with the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. “Big Bopper” Richardson on February 3, 1959, in a fiery plane crash in northern Iowa.  I am certainly not satisfied with that theory; there is clearly much, much more to the song than a tribute to these rock legends and a young man’s regret over lost innocence.  Rather, this prophetic song, indeed like a Bible prophecy itself, contains both a surface layer or layers of meaning including “types” or “allusions”, as well as a much deeper, more profound layer of significance and eventual fulfillment.  In this article, I will attempt to describe just what the “ultimate fulfillment” of this prophetic lament is destined to entail.

To quote Ron Taylor (link supplied below; bold emphasis mine throughout this article)-

IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE SONG AMERICAN PIE IS ABOUT MISS AMERICANOT MISS BUDDY HOLLY

Indeed, absolutely!  The album was dedicated to Buddy Holly, it is not about Buddy Holly.

Ever since I was a boy, I have felt that this most amazing song, written by Don McLean, speaks to the whole country, America, of a time yet future when this once great nation will be no more.  Indeed . . . that it speaks about the very day of her demise.  My first recollection of the song was while riding my bicycle on my paper route in the early 1970’s; it was a cold winter late afternoon around Christmas time, with festive decorations everywhere.  To this day I vividly remember that moment, specifically the words “A Long, Long, Time Ago, I Can Still Remember . . .” which wafted through the air from the driveway of a house near the intersection of West Hall and Woodlawn.  I stopped peddling immediately, absolutely riveted by this astounding tune, there was just something so intensely powerful about it.  I am not certain if I stayed and listened to the remainder of the entire 8 ½ minute song, but I believe that I may have, for I was completely spellbound.  You see, prior to that day, as a 13 year old boy, I actually had no interest in “mainstream” music whatsoever; therefore, I could say that it was the first “non-church” song I was ever truly aware of.  And, of course, during my childhood and teen years, I knew nothing at all about that seemingly obscure end-times nation referred to in the Bible as “Babylon”, the “daughter of Babylon”, and “Babylon the Great”.  Obviously, then, I was not in those younger days able to put my thumb on just what the song was about, I simply sensed that it had to do with a tragic ending.

220px-American_Pie_by_Don_McLean_US_vinyl_single

You see, ever since childhood, I have seen the world much differently than have my peers, a trait I discovered later to be simply consistent with my prophetic calling.  Perhaps Don McLean himself can relate?  When I listen to his music, in which he often expresses themes of loneliness and isolation, I imagine that he can.

In this study I am certainly not going to perform a thorough analysis of the song’s lyrics nor of the writer’s intentions, but instead I will only discuss a unique interpretive framework combined with certain fascinating prophetic insights which, together, should convincingly demonstrate the overall, shocking prophetic message of this most remarkable song.  I will also strongly propose that Mr. Don McLean must have penned these words under the authority of the Holy Spirit; in other words, he didn’t really have “intentions” as such; rather, the words came to him as a prophetic parable.

From the author of imissamericanpie, a person identifying himself or herself only as “E.B.”-

American Pie carries an apocalyptic warning for this generation on par with the most prophetic works of all time.

Indeed it does!  This song is truly the “Song of Moses” for the most powerful nation of the end times.

Research Findings:

Over one week ago (i.e. mid-August 2011) I felt that I was about ready to publish this article.  I went to bed that night satisfied that I could put the article together in one or two days.  However, during the night I had a most profound dream.  In the dream the LORD showed me that the draft article was missing something very important, an essential “key”.  Through prayer and “digging deeper”, that “key” has now been discovered.  Praise God Almighty!

I would like to point out the following excellent papers which go into an analysis of the lyrics and overall meaning of this song; these are-

http://www.roytaylorministries.com/ (go to his 85 page analysis of American Pie)

. . . and this 5-part series by JRed of LookUpFellowship-

In addition, here is the aforementioned article by E.B. which convincingly proves the divine origin of these lyrics-

A shorter, but insightful summary is by JohnBaptist at Tribulation Now, which he subtitles “Vinyl Mystery from 1971- Was American Pie a Prophecy?”-

I will be quoting heavily from the first three sources.  Ron Taylor has done an exhaustive study of this song from a Biblical perspective, and he has come up with some real gems.  However, his analysis is fundamentally flawed, as he believes America to be the new Zion when this nation is, instead, the end-times Babylon.  Huge difference!  Therefore, Mr. Taylor necessarily misses the real message of the song which is about Babylon’s demise by fire not about the battle of Armageddon taking place on American soil.  I link his work here, since I will reference his findings over and over, and it truly is impressive in its scope.  Besides, he is absolutely correct that this song represents America’s “funeral dirge”.  However, I warn you that I will in no way support his anti-Jewish rhetoric nor his Holocaust denial.

JRed, on the other hand, looks at Ron Taylor’s work from the perspective of “synchronicity” with frequent reference to the Song of Moses, and I believe that he is onto something hugely significant here.  JRed suggests that synchronicity may be a communication method which God employs to reach the forlorn, to which I respond “He will do as He wills; certainly He may well use this technique!”  As regular readers of my blog know, I am of the opinion that God speaks to us in incalculable ways, and that we must train ourselves to fully “hear” Him.

Finally, the intriguing author of the “imissamericanpie” article, E.B., has performed a most thorough analysis of the overall spiritual tone of this prophetic song, and shows that behind each, more obvious “allusion” there exists a compelling Biblical message.  I am deeply indebted to him/her for really working out some of the “rough edges” of my own analysis.  Interestingly, E.B. refers people to the Forum on Don McLean’s official website, which is-

http://www.don-mclean.com/

I wonder if “E.B.” might be an acquaintance of Don McLean himself?

My own research, compiled within this article, combines the conclusions of these authors together with my unique prophetic insights, in addition to the Biblical truth that America’s destiny is as the end times nation Babylon the Great, to finally almost completely decipher the puzzle which has been this most cryptic and utterly profound song American Pie.  I will accomplish this end with neither a line-by-line nor a verse-by-verse analysis.  That would be unnecessary and cumbersome.  After you listen to the song several times, from the perspective of which I am presenting it, it should speak to you and every verse and word will make sense, at least in the “big picture”.  That is, if I have sufficiently done my job as a writer.

You see, although these authors have really nailed the ultimate meaning of this song, that it is a song of warning to America and a prophecy detailing her final day, to my knowledge never before has the song American Pie been interpreted from the framework of America as Babylon the Great.  This article therefore represents a huge step forward toward a full Biblical understanding.

Some Background, “The Day the Music Died”, & a Critical Choice:

Originally, the American Pie album was a 1971 release; plenty of good basic information can be found at the Wikipedia site-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pie_(Don_McLean_album)

Now, backing up just a bit for some general history, the original American Pie album featured 10 songs, starting with the cover song American Pie and ending with a modern rendition of the traditional Babylon.  It immediately struck me that this inclusion of Babylon as the final track might well be a veiled “suggestion” pointing to America(n Pie) as (the final) Babylon, which I know her to be.  But, what is the inspiration here?  Did God Himself encode these songs, and in this order, for the meaning to be unraveled in the end-times (now), or is this some sort of gimmick perpetrated by the occult?  Well, I know through an intensive study of the Word, while I have been under the authority of the Holy Spirit, that indeed America is Babylon, and I am further aware that the occult is doing everything they possibly can to point to the European Union, Rome/Vatican, or even Iraq as “Babylon”, so why would they want to point to America?  They would not!  You see, it is in fact a major part of the great end-times deception to keep Americans, even much of the True Church within the borders of the U.S.A., unaware of the Biblical truth that their beloved nation is Babylon the Great!   Easier to control the proud American “God and country” evangelicals who, by and large, will not recognize America’s Biblical identity and destiny until the day of her demise, if even then, tragically (I’m convinced that a lot of American evangelicals actually believe that Yahweh on His throne is draped in an American flag).  Furthermore, this article will prove (thanks in large part to the amazing work of the others whom I reference) that the lyrics for the song are divinely inspired in totality.  I would include that the particular arrangements of the songs in the album(s) certainly appear to be by divine inspiration as well.

Intriguingly, the album “American Pie” was released by Yahweh Tunes, Inc., image here-

don_mclean-american_pie(5)

Yahweh, of course, is a Hebrew name for God.  According to Webster’s Online Dictionary at-

A name for the God of the Old Testament as transliterated from the Hebrew consonants YHVH

Clearly, there is something powerful going on in the spiritual realm regarding this most amazing song.  Is this “God’s song”?  I believe so, personally; while listening to the lyrics I clearly perceive a most urgent message from God, spoken through the voice of Don McLean, in this case the latter acting as His prophetic mouthpiece.  Specifically, I believe that this absolutely unique song represents a most profound “hidden” prophecy for both the True Church and other residents of America to heed.  I further believe that when Don McLean penned the words and music for this song that he was essentially acting as an end times prophet for the One True God, whether he realized it or not.  This is true irrespective of the fact that Mr. McLean, as a man, surely has numerous faults.

Quoting (in part) from the godsfingers article-

http://godsfingers.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/follow-up-don-mclean-bye-bye-miss-american-pie-prophecy/

Now reading the lyrics of this song I see it is filled with prophecy. But it’s written by a non-Christian. Doesn’t matter. God used Balaam, a prophet for the other side and even used a donkey, God can use anything. So, also, Satan, though he can’t foretell what God is about to do, does know what he is going to do as God allows him and, as such, puts words in the mouth of men as foretelling.  So is this song a dirge to the downfall of America?

As a prophetic voice for America in her last hours, I personally and adamantly contend here that it was God Himself who used Don McLean to prophesy America’s future.

If you study the above image of the vinyl 45 carefully, you will see “Mayday Music, Inc.”.  What is “mayday”?  An international call of distress!  A glimpse into America’s near-future!

Here is the definition of “mayday”, also from Webster’s-

an internationally recognized distress signal via radiotelephone (from the French m’aider)

In summary, then, as JRed puts it-

Remember, “American Pie” (according to its record label as seen and discussed above) is a claim that the song is “God’s Song” (the property of Yahweh Tunes) and it is about a time of trouble (it’s a song of warning by Mayday Music).

This is how E.B. puts these two words together-

Two words that fit the common thread

MAYDAY is one . . . . . . . YAHWEH is the other

MAYDAY + YAHWEH = COME HELP ME, GOD !

Or rephrased, GOD HELP US !

It is important to note that throughout this song, “American Pie” is referred to as unmarried, as a “Miss”, for example in the lyrics “So, bye, bye Miss American Pie . . .”.  Why might this be?  Simple, really, America is most profoundly represented by the Statue of Liberty which is, in turn, not only a “she” but actually an embodiment of the goddess Ishtar!  Ishtar was a “Miss”, as she never married; this by Christian researcher and author Richard Coombes who wrote the breakthrough book on America as Babylon-

Ishtar was never a physical ‘mother’… but rather a ‘madam’ over the priestesses. Ishtar was never married and never had a child…but she was called “mother” of the temple priestesses.

Furthermore, America is historically portrayed as a “she”, and is Biblically also portrayed as such, as we read in Revelation 17:4-

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

Speaking of the perpetually single woman, the Harlot of America (starkly contrasted, one notes, with the Bride of Christ), it is imperative to discuss the “music” which is referenced throughout the song.  The “sacred music” is clearly God’s music; therefore, “rock and roll” is both by default and most obviously the devil’s music.  We see this contrast also in reading these song lyrics-

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?

These verses are clearly about America’s choice to either follow God (the Bible and the sacred music) or the devil (rock and roll).

The Father knew what America’s choice would be, therefore this most amazing song of warning and call to individual and national repentance!  Obviously, America has embraced rock music, and rejected the Rock of her heritage, Jesus Christ!

This is how writer E.B. puts it-

Do you have faith (believe) in GOD above if the Bible tells you so?

OR

Do you (have faith) believe in rock ‘n roll?

Can (rock ‘n roll) music save your (im)mortal soul?

IS ROCK ‘n ROLL YOUR GOD?

SO WHICH DO YOU BELIEVE? ? ?

The most compelling material I have ever read on the spiritual dangers of rock music is that of the late David Wilkerson, so I will quote him heavily here; all quotes from his classic book which has greatly influenced both my walk with Christ and my boldness to proclaim the truth of America’s soon demise, “Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth”.  Speaking of rock music in a church setting, Pastor Wilkerson stated-

Borrowed rock music is Satan’s calculated attempt to pollute the worship of almighty God.  It is worship that he is after; it is worship he so desires for himself.

Pastor Wilkerson believed that rock music is an addiction, and speaking of Christian young people, had this to say-

They are dedicated, pure in every other way.  But they cling to this one idol . . . they’ll give up all other idols . . . but don’t dare tread on their (rock) music.  How true- a scorner heareth not rebuke (Proverbs 13:1).

Continuing this theme, the following verse certainly seems most appropriate; I John 2:15-

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

More harsh yet true words about rock and addiction from Pastor Wilkerson-

Amazing!  I say its hold is stronger than drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.  It (rock music) is the biggest mass addiction in the world’s history.  Will they still be hanging on to it tenaciously before the judgment seat of Christ?

Joshua 24:20-

If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

Aren’t these words of Pastor Wilkerson both profound and prescient when applied to this discussion of the prophetic song American Pie and the choice presented therein?  That choice being to either follow rock music or to follow the sacred music?  There is no middle ground here!

By early 1959, that is by the time of the infamous plane crash, rock music was clearly established and here to stay.  From DownBeat Magazine on September 19, 1956 (63 years ago)-

Whatever we may think of rock ‘n’ roll, even if we dismiss it as merely teenage music, there is not getting out of earshot.  It catches up with you sooner or later on television or radio, in a restaurant, in the five and ten cent store, or from the mouths of babes.

If with regret, we’ve got no choice but to admit rock ‘n’ roll is part of our national culture, for the present, anyway . . . . Musical considerations aside, most of us could live happier without that nerve-jangling piano, that neurotic sax, and those jack-hammer rhythms.  Rock ‘n’ roll has got to go . . . .

Rock ‘n’ roll may belong to the teenage, but the earache is ours.  As the man says:  Never send to ask for whom the record plays.  It plays for you.

A Personal Journey:

As part of my research this summer for both this article and the upcoming “America’s Destiny Revealed within her Landscape, Part II” I visited the site of the aforementioned plane crash which, in part and at the human level, did actually inspire this amazing song.  This trip represented a portion of my “good-bye to America” journey which is what I call this summer’s excursion through the Heartland.  It was a rainy early July, Sabbath morning in northern Iowa, and as I walked from the gravel road to the site of the crash in what is now a farmer’s field, I was filled with lament.

3877882821_344b50069fmemorial2

Of course, I pondered the meaning of this tragic event, prayed that the three performers and pilot who all perished so young might have known Jesus Christ, but primarily I reminisced about my country America, a nation born with such hope yet will likewise perish in her youth.  For although I admired these young men and previously enjoyed the music they made (in my younger days I was especially a fan of the music of Ritchie Valens), I have never been one to worship idols, which are what rock musicians, sports heroes, and Hollywood celebrities represent to so many Americans.  Therefore, as I stood silent, in the pouring rain, I considered the loss of such young talent and lamented the “end of innocence” this country experienced that fateful morning, all the while pondering the song and its ultimate meaning, that being the day the music really does stop playing in America, a day we can discover in the pages of the Holy Bible, Revelation 18:22 (in part)-

And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee . . .

Compared with lyrics from American Pie

I went down to the sacred store
Where I’d heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn’t play
And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

“The day the music died” certainly had a precursor fulfillment in the plane crash of February 3, 1959, but will have its final fulfillment on the day that America falls in a fiery judgment.  Just like Bible prophecy, i.e. with both precursor and ultimate fulfillment events.

Yet, backing up even further, indeed several millennia, was the original “day the music died” that day in which Lucifer, the beautiful fallen angel and musician, was thrown down from Heaven?

paradiselost12_1

Where is he now?  He was most certainly present in the Garden.  Is he here on earth, running the show, and might he be the inspiration behind secular music, especially rock & roll?  Pastor Wilkerson believed so, and I concur. Here he discussed the actual origins of rock music-

Rock music was born in the womb of darkness and rebellion.  Rock music was born with more than a particular sound; it was conceived by a spirit, and it continues to be activated by that same spirit that gave birth to it.  It is the spirit of Antichrist . . .

The Song of Moses & A Song for America:

First, let me introduce the concept of “synchronicity” which JRed uses to describe how God may well be communicating to the populace of America, through Don McLean, and within the song American Pie.  In order to accomplish this, I will first quote JRed himself-

McLean did offer some clues to the song’s meaning when he said-

‘I’m very proud of the song. It is biographical in nature and I don’t think anyone has ever picked up on that. The song starts off with my memories of the death of Buddy Holly. But it moves on to describe America as I was seeing it and how I was fantasizing it (America) might become, so it’s part reality and part fantasy but I’m always in the song as a witness or as even the subject sometimes in some of the verses.’

It is my contention that the good Lord may be using this song these past 35 years (through the very real phenomenon known as Synchronicity or, His way of communicating with the unsaved world using their preferred method of communication) to get our attention and warn us of what’s to come.

Now, what JRed is suggesting (and I agree) is that the Song of Moses has prophetic parallels with American Pie and is, in fact, a precursor to this modern-day prophecy.

But, first, just a bit of background on “synchronicity” is in order.  The concept of synchronicity was publicized by the famous psychologist Carl Jung.  It has to do with the suggestions that “chance, coincidence, and parallel circumstances were driven by underlying causality”, and he published, with Wolfgang Pauli, a 1952 paper entitled “Synchronicity- An Acausal Connecting Principle”.  Now, with this admittedly basic background in mind, we continue . . .

JRed further states-

The best description is to say that this phenomenon (synchronicity) in pop culture is to prophecy what a concordance is to the Holy Bible.

Excellent description!

Next, JRed discusses the Song of Moses, as thus-

What is this mysterious “Song of Moses,” and what impact does it have on our age today – some 3,500 years since the time of Moses? The key to this lies in the Book of Deuteronomy. Just before Moses died, as the Israelites were about to enter into the Promised Land, Yehovah gave him a song that He instructed Moses to teach to the Israelites. Moses assembled all the people together to speak in their hearing this song. The song prophesies of the LATTER DAYS and the things that will befall the MODERN NATIONS OF ISRAEL because of their worshipping gods other than Yehovah – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

In addition-

In the Bible, God told Moses in Deuteronomy 31 to write a song. The song that Moses wrote, is recorded in Deuteronomy 32, and is commonly known as the “Song of Moses” and it is the climax of the ministry of Moses. The Song is believed to have been written down and placed in the Ark of the Covenant along with Aaron’s staff and the Pentateuch. The Song of Moses was given as a witness, or testimony, towards the inevitable future rebellion of the Jews against God and the consequences thereof.

Furthermore, JRed accurately notes-

Notice in this prophecy that God did not say that a prophet would testify against them or that the hand-writing would be on the wall. Paraphrasing, He said that a “song would testify against the descendants of Israel, in the latter days.” The “latter days,” as we all know, is the phrase God uses to describe these end times.

Wow, so this song will be a witness against a nation or nations in the latter days (end times)!  Precisely, that nation (singular) is America Babylon!  And the song is American Pie!

JRed also made the essential connection to the fact that both the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb occur together in the very same verse of scripture!  That’s correct; specifically, they co-exist in Revelation 15:3 which is, stunningly, the 153rd (number of fishes) verse from the end of the Holy Bible.  Here is Revelation 15:3-

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Many Christian commentators believe that these two songs are essentially the same “tune”, with one meant for the days of law and one for the days of grace.  JRed also profoundly states that “Revelation 15 is an introduction to the beginning of the end”.  Absolutely, that chapter truly is, for Revelation 17 and 18 are primarily about Babylon’s fall.

A Warning from 1971- America’s Foundations are Crumbling:

What does the word “pie” mean in Spanish?  This analysis is courtesy of E.B.-

“Pie” means “foot”, “footing”, or “foundation”.

I would summarize this as “America’s foundation is crumbling”, which it certainly is and was, blatantly obvious even back in 1971.  What more in 2011 (or, especially, 2019)?

Also, according to writer E.B., using lyrics from the song-

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, “this’ll be the day that I die.
this’ll be the day that I die”

THIS IS THE WARNING

This verse appears 7 times in the song, being used twice at the song’s end. SEVEN is a very significant number.

AMERICAN PIE 1971 . . . . . . . WARNING ISSUED.

Again, I absolutely agree with this assessment.  This song is a prophetic warning of a future fall, the day that the music truly will die.  Stunning that tomorrow, September 11, 2019, will be exactly 2520 weeks after the recording of American Pie in 1971 when the warning was issued.

A New & Unique Prophetic Insight:

Knowing that I would eventually be investigating this song in great detail, I recently ordered a CD of the album itself, which is also called American Pie.  When the CD arrived at my house, I eagerly opened the package and, to my surprise, the album contained 12 songs instead of the original 10.  It turns out that in 2003, a re-mastered album (CD) was released which included the songs Mother Nature and Aftermath added beyond what was the original final song Babylon.

The 2003 re-mastered album (CD)-    The 1971 original album-

Aftermath

Putting these three songs in order we could write-

American Pie —– Babylon —– Aftermath

Which actually presents quite a horrific picture.  Also, taking American Pie as “1” (beginning of album), Babylon as “10” (end of album), and Aftermath as “12” (end of album) we get a total of 23, which in Hebrew means “the beginning and the end” as per the 22 letter Hebrew alphabet “Aleph to Tav”.

The song Aftermath was written in 1992, twenty-one (777) years after American Pie, and is quite shocking and disturbing in its imagery.  It seems to represent, in part, a picture of mental anguish mixed in with images of a Holocaust, despair, and eternity.  When I first heard Don McLean sing the final lyrics of Aftermath, I reacted in utter shock, with cold chills.  That is because my Holy Spirit understanding that the song and album American Pie are all about the end of America had been again confirmed at that very moment.  Here are the final lines of Aftermath

My eyes have seen far more than eyes can ever tell
The planet plunged through mushroom fires of earthly hell

I know that my sweet Jesus said that he’d return
But Babylon has fallen and the cities burn

Whoa and woe!  This is absolutely shocking.  Sisters and brothers, I do believe that the Lord God Almighty is trying to tell us all something most profound here.  First, that America is absolutely Babylon.  And, second, that her fall is fast approaching.  Indeed, she falls at the very onset of the Tribulation.

This is an excellent place to introduce a stunning personal connection between the author and this song which I also mentioned in my most recent article on this blog here.  American Pie, the song, was recorded on May 26, 1971.  On April 3, 2010 I had a stunning open vision in which I saw a large, light colored book in the air.  I next heard an angelic voice declare “The Book of Judgment is Now Open” at which time the cover opened and on the first page I saw “FIRE” in huge letters.  This page turned and on the second page I saw “BABYLON” above “3456”.  I was born on December 8, 1961 (Tevet 1, 5722), precisely 3456 days prior to the recording of American Pie, a song which ultimately has everything to do with “FIRE” and “BABYLON”.

Time will tell, that is, if the song and album American Pie indeed represent a coded message from the LORD to His people, as well as to the “lost but listening”, in America.  I believe wholeheartedly that they most certainly do.  I only pray that He will postpone His ultimate judgment until many more come to repentance.  Yet, as a whole, this nation is too proud to repent.  Though His mercy is still available for individuals, one cannot whitewash the Biblical truth that because America will not repent en masse she will therefore burn in fire as she is Babylon.  This is abundantly clear.  The obvious question remaining is “when will she burn?”  Many Christians found the inaugural celebration of Barack Obama as President to be particularly disturbing in that this song was featured during the festivities in front of the Lincoln Memorial on January 18, 2009, with thousands of Americans singing along joyfully.  America made it through two terms under the aforementioned and are now under President Trump, but could the Obama crowd be a foreshadowing?  Here is a link-

Not surprisingly, the Harlot of Babylon herself, Madonna aka Esther has also recorded American Pie

Near the end of Madonna’s video (4:33) is a brilliant flash of light which can unmistakably be described as representing a nuclear blast.

It appears that Don McLean is the man whom God chose to bring this message to the True Church in America, and it seems that begrudgingly I’m the man who is going to have to publish this yet again.  I simply can’t ignore this; that would the easy way out but one which ultimately would incur tragic consequences, as untold souls would be lost.  The talented Don McLean and I have something else in common which is All-American; we were both paperboys “back in the day”.  He was a 13 year old paperboy on the original “day the music died”; it was while folding newspapers on the 4th of February, 1959 that he learned about the plane crash of February 3rd.  I was a 13 year old paperboy on the winter day I first heard American Pie.  What is a paperboy but one who delivers a message?  Do you see my point?  Paperboy to prophet?  Perhaps?

Is Don McLean a prophet?  Here are some definitions of “prophesy”-

“to foretell or predict”

“to indicate beforehand”

“to declare or foretell by or as if by divine inspiration”

“to utter in prophecy or as a prophet”

Time will prove that Mr. McLean is indeed a prophet, of that I am certain.  Let us just remember; prophets are human and therefore not morally infallible.  Sometimes they are even reluctant (Jonah).

Next, I will quote Ron Taylor, in sort of a summary of what this song is all about-

When you sing a funeral hymn, someone usually has to be dead. Since America’s death has not occurred yet, then it must be a prophecy foretelling America’s death, or want for a better word, a ‘PROPHETIC DIRGE.’ The song ‘American Pie is America’s funeral hymn.’ It is a prophecy for America’s future, and a funeral hymn foretelling America’s death. This ‘good-ole-boy is talking about his past, which is our future. He starts singing the American Pie dirge at the end of verse one.

Profound; Mr. Taylor stated it well.  Yet, I must add that our individual great hope is in the blood of Jesus Christ.  The author of “imissamericanpie”, E.B., refers several times, albeit indirectly, to one of the most amazing verses in the Bible.  We each have a choice.  And, as E.B. puts it, it all boils down to this verse, John 3:16-

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Amen!  Accepting Him is the only way.  Jesus Christ is the Rock!  Will you follow the Rock, or will you follow rock & roll?  For, it is abundantly clear in the prophecy we call American Pie that rock & roll is the devil’s music, “no two ways about it”.  This particular “art form” (and its derivatives), has led nearly an entire nation astray for well over half a century.

Again quoting Ron Taylor-

The dirge the “good-ole-boys” were singing was; “BYE-BYE MISS AMERICAN PIE.” Therefore from the song’s own admission, it says that “BYE-BYE MISS AMERICAN PIE IS A DIRGE.” AMERICAN PIE IS ALSO A FUNERAL HYMN.

Therefore from these lyrics of the third verse, we now know that AMERICAN PIE IS OUR DIRGE; AMERICAN PIE IS OUR FUNERAL HYMN.

This funeral hymn which indicated that dark day that they started singing the dirge American Pie was a day of death.

The dictionary says that a dirge is;

dirge (dûrj) n. 1. Music. a. A funeral hymn or lament. b. A slow, mournful musical composition. 2. A mournful or elegiac poem or other literary work. 3. Roman Catholic Church. The Office for the Dead. –dirge”ful adj.

Now I will here quote JRed again, for I feel that his summary is spot-on-

Personally, whether this is God’s way of using one man to get the unsaved world’s attention by using something they would most likely be spending quite a bit of time with (in other words, I’m willing to bet that many lost souls spend more time listening to pop music than they do reading the Holy Bible) or not, I believe that “American Pie” could very well be a detailed prophecy concerning America’s future, and a “funeral hymn,” written in a “dirge” foretelling America’s death. Even McLean admitted this himself.

Amen.  The only thing I would add is that, after this article with the added prophetic confirmation, there should no longer be any doubt as to the meaning.

Finally, I will quote JRed once more-

Could the “Song of the Lamb” referenced in the Book of Revelation be referring to another “Song of God” otherwise known as “American Pie” by a divinely inspired Don McLean (a modern day Moses type) who himself is an accidental, modern day prophet used by God for His purposes much like the shepherds and kings were before our time?

Totally agreed . . . think about it, brethren!  Remember, God communicates in diverse ways.  Why would He not try to get our attention through this song?  Certainly, American Pie could be an end times type of the Song of the Lamb!  Profoundly yes!  I would only add that, granted, Don McLean is acting in a prophetic role for God Almighty here, yet in addition it took others (Ron Taylor and JRed), the elusive E.B., and a final modern-day prophetic voice, combined, to solve this puzzle.  After all, we see in part and we prophesy in part.

At the end of the article please read all of the lyrics to American Pie, America’s lament and funeral dirge.  I have “bolded” certain portions for emphasis, although each and every word is essential.  I pray that you will read them and weep.  That is, if you are an American it would seem that weeping would be an appropriate response, especially near the end of the song.  If indeed you do weep it will prove that you understand the true meaning of this song.  My own reaction is to cry profusely each time I listen to this tune, which is often, as I am so burdened by the weighty understanding of what it truly reveals, as well as by my essential role in spreading this vital news.  Mark my prophetic word- this song, ultimately, has everything to do with the fire judgment of Babylon America.  Certainly, it has secondary and tertiary layers of meaning and fulfillment as well, but we cannot get caught up in the trees so as to miss the forest.  The bottom line is that this song portends America’s ultimate day of judgment.  “The day the music will die”, that is.  In the interim, here is an excellent link which includes lyrics-

The Seventy (70) Year Connection:

Now, I would like to add a bit about “this current generation”.  In Bible terminology, a generation is typically represented by 70 years.  The number seventy also evinces “perfect spiritual order” (Bullinger), as seven (spiritual) and ten (divine) are both “perfect” numbers of completion.  Don McLean was born in 1945, the year that America became the sole world power at the conclusion of World War II, a title she has never relinquished.  It is my understanding that America (Babylon) will be allowed approximately 70 years in her role as “hammer of the whole earth” (Jeremiah 50:23).  This 70 year prophecy itself, currently all set up for a second fulfillment, is from Jeremiah 25:12.  I am suggesting that Don McLean represents the “generation” of American power.  This said, Babylon America has not yet fallen as of 10 September, 2019 which suggests that, of course, we should be looking to national Israel to figure out the precise timing.  The fig tree (Israel) was planted in the Spring of 1948, but did not blossom until 1949 or 1950, so we are now surely approaching the “season” of the seventy years.

This all said, specifically Don McLean was born on October 2, 1945, precisely 30 days (1 prophetic month) after the end of World War II (September 2, 1945 according to Wikipedia).  Truly, Don McLean represents or is a “type” of the “final generation”.  What did occur seventy years after 1945 (in 2015) is the casting of the millstone-laden Jeremiad scroll into the Great River, a symbolic and prophetic act which is recorded in Jeremiah 51:59-64.

A Prophetic Word:

Don McLean has, to this day, been quite elusive when pressed about the meaning of his song American Pie.  It seems by the vigor with which he is being pursued for his statement as to the true meaning that most people believe there is “more to the story” than he has admitted to, or has been published yet.  He did admit to this much in an interview; an admittance quite profound actually-

American Pie is a complicated parable.

The word “parable” is of course a Biblical reference in itself.

In 1972, Don McLean also had this to say on the radio-

It was a story about America. And the fact that people were drawn into the song as a result of symbols that I chose to use, was the reason I chose to use those symbols in the first place.

Symbols are prophetic imagery.  He admitted that the meaning of the song is much deeper than are recognized by the standard interpretations.  Is Don McLean even aware of the true and full meaning, or has it been up to others, myself included, to decipher?  For, if he wrote these words under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and I have interpreted his writing under the Holy Spirit’s direction, as I know I have, then what I have presented in this article is indeed the true meaning of the song.

The obscure E.B. has this to say also-

The evidence (for American Pie connection to the Bible) is now beyond question. And consider the source of inspiration. The same inspiration for both song writer and decoder. Inspiration by definition means “within spirit”.

The author is talking about the Holy Spirit.

If this is indeed the case, then these 5 primary messages from God to America are certainly found within this divinely-inspired song and album-

1- American Pie warns America & calls her to repentance;

2- American Pie lays out a clear choice, to either follow the sacred music or to follow rock & roll; therefore, to follow God as He is revealed through the Bible or to follow the devil;

3- American Pie refers to America as “Babylon”;

4- American Pie describes the method of America’s destruction, that is by fire; and

5- American Pie appears to reveal a fairly narrow time frame for America’s day of judgment based on the 70 year clue*.

I Praise God for opening my eyes to this truth, to understanding that He has been warning this nation for precisely 2520 weeks through the lyrics of this beloved song, and for the ability to put the prophetic puzzle together and loudly proclaim the truth through this article.  America, your judgment is nigh.  Repent now, for the ultimate fulfillment of “the day the music died” is fast approaching.

I will quote E.B. one more time, for I have taken this in part as a personal message intended for me-

AMERICAN PIE will soon take its place as the greatest Christian Song in Rock and Roll History . . . . . . .

40 Years have passed

SIR, IT’S TIME TO PICK UP THE MANTLE

Indeed.  When I originally posted this article it was 40 years after the recording of American Pie.  Fast forward to 2019, specifically with tomorrow being the 18th (666) anniversary of The Day Of Infamy and precisely 2520 (The Writing On The Wall) weeks from the recording of American Pie, it is most assuredly “TIME”.

Shalom,

Serayah515

*Here I must note, regarding a Biblical generation, that eighty years is also a possibility, although as per Babylon in the Bible seventy seems clearly stated.  Following is the supporting verse for an eighty year generation; Psalm 90:10-

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Lyrics:

American Pie– songwriter Don McLean (1971)

A long long time ago
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile

And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I’d deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn’t take one more step
I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died . . .

So bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?

And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
Well, I know that you’re in love with him
’cause I saw you dancing in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues
I was a lonely teenage broncin’ buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died
I started singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Now, for ten years we’ve been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But that’s not how it used to be
When the Jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh and while the king was looking down
The Jester stole his thorny crown

The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lenin read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died

We were singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
Landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the Jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
‘Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
We started singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
‘Cause fire is the devil’s only friend
And as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in hell
Could break that Satan’s spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I’d heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn’t play

And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

And they were singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die
they were singing

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die

Exceptional Comments:

Many thanks to the dozens of sisters and brothers who made excellent comments on the original article.  I have been unable to neatly “incorporate” your comments in this article as I had intended to do.  They are so valuable, however, that for the benefit of new readers of this article I will include select quotes here.  I have not used names so as to protect identity, but by all means if you would like me to include your name please let me know in a new comment.

Brother K. supplied the following link-

Sister L. more recently left the following link and a quote-

https://www.grub.ws/info/pie/pie.html

American Pie’ refers to the simple “apple-pie America” of the 50’s, where …. The reference to “a voice from you and me” is alluding to the “common” people crying …. 1968 …. was foreshadowing the end of the world as discussed in Revelations.

A variety of excellent comments follow:

There is so much to ponder on in your article. The “Song” that Moses wrote that is written about in Revelation is a testament from God Himself that He warned all the “seed of Abraham” (which includes Christians) that in the End of Days we would (again) walk away and serve foreign idols. It was placed in the side of the Ark of the Covenant as a “witness” for all times. It is God saying, “I warned you – I told you what would happen when you walked away.” We were told, but we have not listened. It applies to the Jews and all those that have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Before the Jews ever were allowed to enter their Promised Land they were specifically taught “this law” and it was to be handed down to all generations.

I am haunted, (and no doubt others have written well on this incident) that this was the song chosen by Obama and team to sing at his inaugeration. (4yr term = 1/10th of 40) It certainly does NOT auger well. Who in our generation can hear that tune and not sing along? (Just as the command was with the song of Moses)…indeed, i often sing or hum it for days beyond the outward listening…it is burned within my memory, but I am a fan of the Rock of Ages!

Reading through your post, besides being chastened with that sober sense of preparation in sorting through my bags, I thought of these two scriptures.

“Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, [and] psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, [good]! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who [is] the god who will deliver you from my hands?”(Dan 3:15).  Babylonian Neb.’s degree for worship/precipitating 3 teens being cast into fiery furnace (and demonstrating Yahweh’s ability to deliver from the fire).

“They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.'(Luke 7:32)
Jesus’ lament about indifference to warnings

Without a doubt, American Pie has a quality about it unlike any other; haunting and magnetic, the listener is drawn to it in a way that is profoundly personal. If it is a dirge, (and it is) – it is the dirge of a very close and beloved friend . . . without a doubt, the song is talking about our beloved nation. And, the reference to “helter-skelter” – the Beatles album in 1968 and the Manson murders August 1969. Both pivotal years in the history of the country, I believe. Great changes swept the country in those years as a result of the music and the drugs . . . one thing is for certain, this is no ordinary song and its verses are replete with very specific clues to the fate of Miss American Pie.

Great piece of research and work. I never cease to be amazed at the layers and layers of truth and confirmations to Gods work and his Word. After reading this I realized that the music industry and the automotive industry have created an immeasurable amount of Idols and Idolatry . . . After reading William Frederick’s and David Wilkerson’s work about Rock and Roll music, I am convinced that it is a tool that the enemy has used to gain access to the minds of people including those who profess Christ. The proof is the irrefutable evidence that research has shown to the effects on the human mind and body.  May it be that some would turn from those things that are less than useless and turn to God in repentance.

. . . if I’m not mistaken the song “Babylon” by David Grey was used during George W. Bush’s first inauguration.

I never realized how prophetic American Pie was until you pointed it out.  Two things were going through my mind while reading your article.  First,-the words “the good ole boys”- that put to mind the good ole boys club in Washington who have a hand in America’s downfall . . .

It did not cross my mind to associate this song with prophecy before. But I knew there is something different in this song. When I was 5 my grandma used to listen to this song over the radio during her afternoon siesta and since then it has always been a mysterious song for me. Not until today when I read your post. So I thank God for such a crystal clear elucidation about this song . . .

“Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry” is also very prophetic. Levee is supposed to hold water. Water, latter rain in the Bible represent the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. However, the levee was dry. There was no Holy Spirit to be found. People are so indulged in the worldly things and themselves that there is no holiness in them.

This was a most in depth article! I was pleased to see that you were acquainted with Pastor David’s writings! In just the last few weeks there has been some prophetic words of abortion going on around the internet and between brethren. Next year marks the fortieth year that America has had legal abortion in all states . . . Consider this: KING YESHUA knows all. HE knew that our country would decide ‘for’ abortion (and this decision based on a lie, b/c the woman ‘Jane Roe’ said she needed an abortion b/c she was raped and later recanted-much later, in the 2000’s after she became a Christian!) I believe the unborn who are aborted carry a special ‘grace’ in that even though they have the seed of sin, they have never had the occasion to sin and that makes them all the more innocent. Consider these verses: “blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see GOD” Mtt 5:8. Ps 24:4 and many others. “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” Mtt 18:10 . . . I believe we will be entering into a time like no other where a great paradox of peace and pain will collide with great force. I believe our time is very close at hand, but that much tribulation will be upon us. The unborn is this world, the most innocent, speak an oracle of astounding truth. Just as their flesh has been torn apart and deconstructed so too will our flesh undergo a tearing apart . . . And where has the church in America been this whole time? Being lulled to sleep in her deceptive dens that I call spiritual abortion clinics! In January every year we have a ‘pro-life Sunday or sanctity of human life Sunday’ in ‘remembrance of all the children’. Really? And then, in April/May we worship Ishtar all over again by celebrating easter and all its fertility rights and ARGUE that it is ok. We are hypocrites! We have been marked!

Thank you for the warning about America. I was born in 1948 and lived through all the changes in this country. I remember the deaths of young musicians and how innocent the time was then. Rock and roll music did play a huge part in lowering the moral fabric of America ,along with the 1967-8 invasion of free sex, drugs ,rejection of God among the young people. After 40 yrs of rebellion our country is unrecognizable now.  Jan.21st was a sad day for so many of us. Do you think our leaders know we will be hit with a strike, I don’t want to say the words.  Now all I want to do is witness to my unsaved lived ones.

I thought it was interesting that the Superbowl was held on the 54th anniversary of the day the music died. When that is combined with the verses that allude to a a bomb falling on a football field it added to my curiosity about recent movies and commercials showing a sports stadium blowing up. God bless you.

[I responded to the above, in part, by pointing out that the number 7 occurs 54 times in the Book of Revelation . . .]

November 22, 2012 in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, Don McLean rode the South Dakota “Mount Rushmore” float. In January, MSM news anchors were debating whether or not Obama’s face should be put on Mt. Rushmore.

The Jews as One worldwide movement to pray for the coming of Mashiach (first ever) is set to take place tomorrow, Sept. 23rd (2012).

Is the timing of this Torah reading meant to coincide with this double parallel in the songs sent to testify and warn? I believe it just might be timed to coming events.

Addendum:

Brother R. had left a most heartfelt comment on the original article, and I felt it instructive to copy it here, in part, along with my response (likewise in part) plus a quote from the late Pastor Wilkerson.  First, Brother R.-

Excellent blog post but one thing that I have to say is that maybe you are being too harsh against Rock and Roll since there are many beautiful songs within the genre that have spiritual meanings. The Lord used Rock music to reach me when I was in a drug stupor in the seventies. “Morning has Broken” and “Peace Train” are two that come to mind. I think that Don was referring to music in general (The day the music died) and not rock specifically. There were many pop songs before Rock came on the scene that had ungodly lyrics . . .

Response-

What is rock & roll? Where do we draw the line? Those are valid questions. Although American Pie is “rock-era”, I certainly never considered it a rock & roll song, but rather “folk”, and now I consider it, as you know, to be a prophetic masterpiece.  So, “they” may consider it rock, but I will strongly disagree, as it does not meet the “spiritual” definition of rock (see below).

You mentioned 2 songs popularized by Cat Stevens, a famous singer/songwriter who I also admired. Tragic that he turned to Islam later in his life, for he was one incredibly gifted musician. However, “Morning Has Broken” was an old Celtic tune, not a Steven’s original. Wikipedia has Cat Steven’s genre as “folk-rock”, which I would agree with. I see little harm in this type of music; in fact, I was a big fan of his songs. One of my favorites in particular is “Where Do the Children Play?” which I feel is quite prophetic in nature. When David Wilkerson was asked as to what makes a particular rock-era song “spiritually bad”, he responded, essentially, that there was not a clear formula, but that he could “sense” it spiritually as he grew in discernment. I feel the same way. Therefore, to respond to your comment, I will quote the late great evangelist and America’s prophet himself, David Wilkerson-

Since it is primarily a soul and spirit matter, it can’t be judged solely on technicalities . . . all I know is that the Spirit of God within me knows, and He lets me feel His grief over it . . . a good test is to spend a few hours in the closet of prayer in the presence of Jesus. Let the Spirit of God melt your heart and crumble your pride. Open your heart there to the deep probing of the Spirit, and ask Him to show you what is right and what is wrong. Be truly open to the mind of God. Spend another hour studying the Word of God. While in the Spirit of deep worship turn on your music! You will know within seconds. Isaiah 30:21- ‘And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.’ Deep calls to deep, and the Spirit of God within you will resist all that comes out of the womb of Satan. There can be no legalistic rules; it is a matter of Spirit and truth.

Pastor Wilkerson was referring more to the “spirit” in the beat of the music, the satanic electric guitar riffs, etc. than the lyrics, but also those. I know how ungodly some pre-rock music was, for I used to be a fan of both classic rock and blues! Some of the old blues from the late twenties to early fifties was quite “shocking” lyrically. Of course, from blues was birthed rock, so the story goes (“blues had a baby, and they named it rock ‘n’ roll”).
