In a dream vision, the Holy Spirit showed me myself scrolling through what appeared to me to be harmless informational and entertainment videos on YouTube. I was watching myself from a position slightly to my right, looking at my fingers’ interaction with the computer keyboard and at what my eyes gazed at on the screen.
Suddenly, I noticed what appeared to be tiny pieces of lint floating in the air between the screen and my eyes. The pieces of “lint” moved in one direction—they lifted up from the screen and travelled upward almost in a straight line into my left eye.
I asked the Holy Spirit to zoom in so I could see more clearly what these pieces of lint actually were. He obliged, and quickly I saw it was not lint that was lifting from the screen to my eye, but logs! One after the other!
With awe and even horror, I remembered the scripture that discusses how sin enters through the eye, and how before we take out the splinter in someone else’s eye, we must first take out the log in our own eye. The Lord warns me and all of us to beware of digital technologies that can be utilized—both overtly and covertly (subliminally and through a state of semi-hypnosis)—to transmit sin and the demonic into the human mind and soul. Pray for God’s guidance and protection before using smartphones and computers.
Scripture:
Psalm 101:3 (NIV)
3 I will not look with approval
on anything that is vile.
Matthew 7:3-5 (NIV)
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Luke 11:34 (NIV)
34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.
