Are You Content?

Are you content? Are you satisfied with what I have provided you? Are you at rest at this moment, regardless of your current circumstance? Or are you troubled? Do you feel cheated? Do you question what I have brought into your life?
Have you not read in my word that godliness with contentment is great gain? How do you think the false prophets get a hold of your soul? Do they not speak on behalf of their master satan? Do they not always make you question if what you have received from heaven is enough?
And how do they do this? By making you believe that there is oh so much more for you out there, if only you would believe! Instead of making you question God, they make you question yourself. If only you had more faith, they say, you could have all these things, ‘in Christ’! If only you would confess and declare and claim, all these carnal desires of your heart would be yours, ‘in Christ’!
Do you now see how the enemy works? How they continually appeal to the flesh, all the while masquerading their doctrines of men and love of money as something that the word teaches? How they ignore the plain and simple meaning of the scripture, not letting you see the words that would lead you into my will? Words that would bring true joy and peace into your life. Instead, all they do is stir up fleshly lusts by the lying promises that spew forth from filthy lips.
How is it in your western lands of plenty, that you have been so deceived? How is it that you embrace the same values as the heathen? Do you think that you must have health and wealth before you can achieve contentment in me? Do you really think your life consists of the abundance of your possessions? If that is true, then how can anyone find true joy in the rest of the world? In most places, my children thank me for a piece of bread, or a drink of water. In the west, my children cry and pout and demand that I fulfill every whim of their unsanctified heart.
I have been patient with you for far longer than you realize. But even my patience with my children has its limits, as my word clearly shows. Your ingratitude has kindled my anger. Your lack of contentment in what I have given you shall not be overlooked forever.
Yet you all say: ‘Master, do you not care that our governments are corrupt? Master, can’t you see that we’re losing our freedoms? Lord, why don’t you stop the loss our economic prosperity? Jesus, why don’t you heal us when we pray?’
Do you think that I owe you all these things? Is your attitude one of entitlement? Are you so ungrateful over what I have done for you at the cross, that eternal life means little or nothing to you? Shall you never cease with your whining and complaining?
Have you not read what I did with my people in the wilderness? That after so great a deliverance, they accused me not once, not twice, but 10 times of not taking care of their needs? I vowed that none would enter the promised land, did I not? And I kept my word, did I not?
So why do you tempt me, as those in the wilderness tempted me? Did I not say that I have written all these things as examples for you? Have I not forewarned you what shall be your fate, if your hearts continue to go astray, even as their hearts continued to chase after their own lusts?
My children, do you think I do not hear your murmurings and complainings? Do I not know the thoughts of your hearts? So many of you feel so sorry for yourself. You wonder: ‘Why me? What did I do to deserve this?’ And all the while you forget that bondage out of which I have delivered you. You count it a small thing, the revelation of my salvation for you, the fact that I have called you, and chosen you to inherit my kingdom.
So for a little while, you are allotted a cup of distress. So for a short space of time, the cup of suffering must pass your lips. Is that enough to steal your contentment away? Shall a few years of trial be enough to rob you of the joy of your salvation? Why must you so focus on the wrong thing? Why do you refuse to die, so that I may live? On what basis do you think that I will judge? Is it not by how much you have died to self, and allowed me to live? Is it not by how willing you were in taking up your cross, regardless of what manner that cross turned out to be?
I say these things not to condemn you, but to help you. In the long run, correction is far sweeter nectar than encouragement. Would you rather not be made aware of what pleases me instead of always being told how wonderful you are? Have you not been called for this very purpose, to glorify me in all that you do?
You know that all things originate from within. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. If you are ungrateful in your heart, you shall only produce bitter fruit. Contentment is the fertilizer that nourishes the seed of the word that my Spirit has planted in your soul. Lack not in this vital ingredient, and good fruit shall you produce. Water that seed with humility and the fear of the Lord, and that is how you shall obtain that true 100 fold return. A harvest of righteousness, not unholy mammon. Learn to garden my way, and leave the way of Laodicea behind. Then, and only then, shall you experience the true riches of my kingdom.
